So when the stickers are being sent out that I'm making they will be sending people back to the meritocracynow.net website but it seems that they only get a small glimpse of what we're about, we do have videos that we can introduce them to, I just have this feeling that people are going to scroll down the page and then go off without anywhere else to go, yes they probably agree with it but we aren't keeping people interested, they'll get to the bottom of the page and then they will go somewhere else.

 

Our meritocracyparty.org website is down at the moment, I did suggest to the owner of the website that he should link back to the meritocracyparty.org website but he hasn't, I thought maybe it's a good idea to include an interesting video at the bottom, we have a few if you look at these.

Here are the videos we have, the first is a bit boring but it goes into a long explanation whereas the last isn't so boring but it doesn't explain half at what this video does.

We want to keep people interested and don't want them to go off with it in the back of their mind, people lose interest fast so we have to keep them in the right state of mind, we do have another website but it's not completely dedicated to Meritocracy and may put people off (armageddonconspiracy.co.uk), this website has really got people involved with meritocracy but it really depends on how people interpret it (as it's a religious movement also but I won't go into that.)

 

Can someone give me feedback on the meritocracynow.net website? Does it explain the situation well? Does it keep people interested? Do you have any suggestions on what we could do to keep people's attention? It's one thing sending the stickers out and people going to the website but it'll be useless if they quickly turn away...

My first thought is that there seems to be a lot of text so it could be worth adding more images if you can.

 

Perhaps you could try embedding a video of one of your team saying about your aims – could this be positioned at the top of the page? A video like this could help build up trust so could lead to more people signing up. Could you offer some kind of benefit for people signing up, perhaps a free pen or ebook?

Although the large graphic is nice, I think it takes up too much space and doesn't entice people to scroll/read more of the page.

 

Personally I think you want to grab attention by showing the Five Meritocratic Principles at the top of the page - if people like them they'll read more, if they don't then they probably wouldn't support you anyway. I would then follow that with your mission statement/call to action (Join Us).

 

I would be very careful with the first video you show in your post above - 24 minutes is a lot to expect people to watch and listen to. Perhaps you could lik to that after they've 'Joined Us' or perhaps put on the blog somewhere?

Thanks guys, what are your opinions on the videos we have? One is very long and the other is quite short.

I only watched the second one because to be honest the subject matter doesn't interest me enough to want to sit through 24 minutes of video.

 

The start of the second one made me think it was an advert for an online or video game, not what I'd expect for a serious political party, but if you're trying to woo younger people it might work?

 

Except for the beginning, the text colours and 3D effect make the text not really that readable when viewed at anything below full screen. I find the background is too distracting.

 

If you're going to quote 5 meritocratic principles in the video, perhaps they ought to be that same as the ones you show on the websbite - otherwise it looks as if you don't know what you stand for.

 

As I said, the subject matter doesn't interest me and you may have excellent reasons for doing things the way you have - just accept this as a personal opinion, not something that says you're wrong
