While optimizing our website we use alt tags which has importance from seo points of view but my question is there is any befefit of using keywords in place of image name.

It's an alt "attribute" not a "tag".

 

Please don't stuff alt attributes full of keywords, the alt attribute is meant to provide a description of the image and is used by devices such as screen readers and also as image replacement text in case images are not available for whatever reason.

Instead of trying to work out what a 'bot' will see on your page you need to be concerned with how a human will understand your content. Spurious keyword usage will only turn off potential buyers because they will see no value in the content. From an SEO point of view having the information that is relevant - Bot's don't know it is relevant themselves, but a user will - makes the image a valid item and not just decoration.

 

Please don't make the big mistake of trying to talk to the bot's that are scanning your site, they don't spend money, talk to your visitor's. Engage them with quality content and you will tend to naturally improve the SEO of your site. Especially if you optimize accessibility for screen readers, and 'low end devices' while keeping the site interesting and CURRENT.

having an image of a dog drinking out of a bowl (for example), you would be well advised to call it something like "dog-drinking-out-of-bowl.jpg" rather than like "image1.jpg".

Image extension has some bearing ... name an image ****head.jpg and watch how filters block it.

Yes "alt" attribute in img tag is necessary in SEO point of view. I think image name is not so important as alt, but putting a proper name to an image is a very good impact on your site.

It is better to have a relevant title for your image and not stuff it with keywords. Using keywords in title which make no sense will do no good to your seo.

Image has 3 main things:

- name

- title

- alt tag

 

All of them should tell SE and people what your image is about.

Alt tags is a must for the images as the images can be optimized.So instead of image.jpg or 12345.jpg we can use the general name as the alt tag.A few keywords can be used in alt tags but it should be stuffed into it.

yes ofcourse, Search engine cannot see or understand an image. They do it with the help of alt attribute value assigned to it. Therefore, if you dont give an alt tag to an image, that particular image is null to search engine.

alt "attribute" helps to describ image specially it will helps more when image does not load on web page.
