May 5, 201412 yr So basically what Homeflow is a website designed to be set as your homepage, it gives easy access to the most visited websites (like Facebook, Twitter etc.), it also has a bunch of glance-able information like the Weather at your current location (uses I.P) and more. The website also includes a search bar which uses Google and quick and easy access to Google Maps and Images. This website is also regularly updated (about 4 updates per month) and so are the most used websites (once per month). The information on this website is pulled from an eBiz MBA article related to the topic. You can check the website out at - http://www.homeflow.elementfx.com What's the point of this you ask. Well basically I've added everything useful I can think of to the website, so now I need help thinking of ideas. I also need help with the actual creation of the website because like it says on my profile...I'm a beginner so any help will be appreciated! PS. If you know anyone who would like to help out please send them here to this post, because I would like to get as much help as I can to make this website as nice and as user-friendly as possible. My E-Mail: homeflow.shaizaad.contact@gmail.com Thank-you in advanced.

May 9, 201412 yr Says I'm in Epping... Which I've never heard of. Lol. In any case this almost seems like a more graphical but non user controlled bookmarks page. Not sure how many people would use it. Now.. It would be more usable if you tap into some APIs and actually displayed the users own content, but that would require a lot of work. Also goog!e already has something like this. So I guess you have to ask yourself what you can do to draw in users? Right now it's much easier for people to just use their own bookmarks.

You're right, that is what I'm currently working on, I'm trying to make the links editable by the users and will saved using browser cookies. This will be a difficult process, but without it Homeflow is...useless. PS. What were you talking about when you said Google had something like this? Thanks for your input.
May 9, 201412 yr I like the idea behind it but is just about impossible to control with a Magic Mouse, slightest movement when scrolling and it goes crazy. Its very sensitive.
May 10, 201412 yr Author I like the idea behind it but is just about impossible to control with a Magic Mouse, slightest movement when scrolling and it goes crazy. Its very sensitive. I guess I really should have though about that. I'm a Windows (and Ubuntu) user so I don't have magic mouse. I'll add 'flow-bar sensitivity' to the long list of things I must fix in order for this website to actually be of some use. Thanks for your input, it was really helpful.
May 10, 201412 yr Author addItem(DOMnode element, int|string index)called to add a new item 'element' to the flow at the position index. The element has to be a valid item element. So it must have at least this structure:

The index has to be an integer or one of the strings 'first', 'start', 'last' or 'end'.returns: int index (index position of added item)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------That's what needs to be added in order for the content to be editable but I just don't know how to add it in as I am new to web design. Any ideas?
May 21, 201412 yr Seems useful, although Firefox allows you to choose the site you like, which seems to fill the same task. However if you aiming at Chrome uses, then it might be useful. However, can I suggest a couple of changes. The search bar is by far the most important part, so I would style this a bit more (larger and maybe rounded edges etc). I would then lose the dark blue background. It just seems a be depressing and old fashioned. Maybe include the word 'search' within your main title. Move the sentence about using the flowbar beneath the actual flowbar. This means moving the Chrome message and maybe making that smaller. I would see if there was a way to include a button that changes the users browser settings to use your search, otherwise you are unlikely to get anyone using it. To be honest. You have no content on this site, so you are not going to get found in search engines, so you only have a couple of options. Spend some money on advertising and get onto the social media site and forums. Target people who are going to spend time browsing the web (although I don't think web designers will use this service as they want to be using the mainstream stuff). Good luck! May 22, 201412 yr Chrome already does this whenever I load it. It can either store your most visited sites, or you can add to it yourself.
May 22, 201412 yr I think it needs something a bit more unique about it otherwise it doesn't stand a chance. Maybe some sort of popular feeds etc that people can choose?
May 22, 201412 yr I'm pretty sure every major browser now has something like this when a new tab is opened. You should most definitely continue working on it, though. There's potential to strive for something better, and a generic homepage would be good for those who use multiple browsers - what about syncing data between them all? I think this will be better achievable as a plugin for the major browsers - it would make more sense that an actual URL and you will also be able to take advantage of the APIs that each has to offer. I am not so keen on the design. When I have time I will give you a few suggestions as to how you could improve it. Also, the icon slider is very buggy. It appears to jump two icons in the direction I click and swipe - not even animating. Edited May 22, 201412 yr by jakdothtml

May 25, 201412 yr No offense, but I really don't see the point of this. Not even a little bit. From your description you made it sound as you somehow embedded all those sites into a page, which I thought was surely impressive. But it turns out you just added links with logos. Rather disappointing. How is this any different then one of those annoying toolbars that people install by accident? Best of luck with your idea, but personally I suggest you move onto to something different.
July 16, 201412 yr Also, the icon slider is very buggy. It appears to jump two icons in the direction I click and swipe - not even animating. I second that
