Not a good idea, don't waste your time. There are many themes and booking plugins available at a very low cost. If you are not a skilled designer and coder then you will just waste your time.

You are right, these days it seems that both started to merge and there are higher expectations from a front end developer. I agree that basic back end skills are bonus but I don't think it is a good idea to ditch the back end developer's job and load everything on front end developer.
 
It might be alright with basic projects for a front end developer to handle both sides but for more complex projects front end and back end must not merge I think.

As everybody else has said, it is always best if you are able to hire a photographer for the project specifically. You will end up getting a lot more for your money and you end up with completely bespoke images for that project.
 
Having said that, there are times when (also mentioned above) you may just need a single image, or something really specific (like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, for example) and this is where the stock image libraries come in.
 
I personally have a ShutterStock account with a daily download limit of 25 images (any size). There is obviously a cost involved with this, I currently purchase yearly at £1834.80 per year, including the VAT. Now this does sound like a lot of money, but straight away the VAT is claimed back. For the sake of the following though, let's leave the VAT where it is.
 
£1834.80, divided by twelve is only £152.90 a month, a figure easily worked in to just one project over the course of that month.
 
With 25 images per day available to you, with an average 30 days per month, over 12 months it works out at 9000 images at just over 20p per image.
 
Like I say, you can either work the cost (do monthly if it helps cashflow) in to every project you do, or (and I have done this on some projects) you can simply state in your project proposal and/or contract that your costings do not include the purchase if photographic elements and that the client can either purchase them separately or you will purchase them and invoice 9at cost).

If the amount is not much then just leave it as it is not worth the hassle and definitely not worth for you to be occupied with chasing on daily bases.
If the amount is big, say over £1000 then do not let this go. Take a screenshot of the text message, do not reply by text and reply only by email.
Do explain to him that you have full right to the whole design and parts of the website unless they pay up. If they ignore to pay then claim the money via small claims court.
Do explain to him that you are not out there to damage his personal or his company's reputation, and tell him that if he keeps threaten you then you will register his threat also with the police. And if he does then you must go to the police and register the threat.
 
But before letting it go so far do try to talk to him again and make him understand.

Looks like this particular email is received through a form on your website, if yes then take couple of hours and put some stop words to your form's script. Try to use a good captcha for your forms.

As the title says, Google are starting to add labels to mobile friendly - responsive websites, they have built a module where you can check to see if your current websites would pass the test.
 
This surely now means you shouldn't be making static websites anymore as Google is penalising those who don't, which I think is a good thing as it helps push the industry forward and makes it easier for us to convince potential clients that they need to upgrade.

What if you are hosting your client, you pay for his hosting and his anual domain cost and suddenly he decides to close the company and not needing any of it anymore. I think it will be you who is in loss here.
 
Is it really worth chasing, emails, calls, texts and the whole hassle.
 
We got more than 200 clients and we never had to bother with any of this because we don't want to host anyone. If they don't want to pay then their bad.
We could host them and get good money from all but if we compare the price with tension then no we rather spend energy and concentration on something which gets us bigger returns.
 
But ey, that is us!

Wjy would you host a client in the first place? You are not a hosting compmany, but a webdesigner/developer
 
Find a good hosting for your client, register it on his name, payment with his card, future responsibility is his.
 
That is what I have been doing in the past 10 years and never had any issues of hosting/domain payments.
 
Of course all this must be explained properly to the client.

And I get the feeling on his next post he will start on creating wordpress plugins lol

CoffeeScript's goal is to stay as close as possible to the underlying JavaScript while improving on the language's syntax. That makes it very different from, say, Dart, or GWT, or something that reorders code like TameJS. So I think that if you're someone who likes JavaScript but wants to write more expressive code, CoffeeScript is going to be the obvious choice.
