Hello all, I am new to these forums and I need some help.. badly. I am currently in year 1 in College doing Web development and Creative Media. I have an to hand in a web site tomorrow using notepad, basic HTML and CSS. I haven't been able to get a grip of web design yet as our lecturer always misses classes and/or is late. So I am asking someone to help me out on doing this website for tomorrow. Here are the choices I have to chose from.

1. Vets Practice

Ted Murphy runs a vet practice in Salthill in Galway. Apart from himself there is his secretary who works part time. He does not currently have a website, but does use email and has recently started using twitter and is prolific.

He has been a member of the local animal rescue centre for many years ­ and often he will retweet pictures of cats and dogs who have been lost. He also tweets photographs of animals to be re­housed from the rescue centre. The rescue centre is really important to him and as it is a charity he always tries to help in any way he can.

He is looking for a simple website ­ that gives his key information ­ who he is, his location, his patients (domestic pets of all varieties). His practice is in a hard to find spot ­ so he would like to have a map of his actual location. He also wants to display his opening hours and on­call number. He is also pretty transparent about his pricing policy.

He would like people to get in contact with him via email and via twitter. He would like to be page 1 in Google for Salthill vets. Also he has recently decided to lower the price for pet microchipping ­ as he has seen that getting your pet chipped has a lot of advantages. He wants to give this service a prominence on the site.


2. Craft Brewery

James Ryan has recently opened a small craft brewery in Galway city. While he has a small shop beside his premises ­ this is open only at weekends. He sells his product (a light, dark and stout) ­ to the local off­licences and public houses.
He is passionate about the process ­ and frequently gives impromptu tours to visitors.

He does not use twitter ­ but the company has a facebook page, and he always posts updates and photos of when a new batch is made or is on its way to another happy customer.

He knows that his product is all about word of mouth ­ but he also knows that he needs a simple website. He would like to promote his tours in a more formal way ­ so he needs people to know where he is located. He wants his 3 main products to be very prominent ­ but at the same time he wants them to know that they all use ingredients sourced in Ireland.

He wants to rank highly for craft brewery galway. He also want people to know where they can actually buy these unique brews in the city ­ and they can actually do a tour of the premises.


Scoring System
1. Does the site adhere to the project brief? ­ 20%
2. Could the site be used as the basis for a live site? ­ 10%
3. Quality of the wireframe that was produced ­ 10%
4. Was the content/imagery used relevant to the customer? ­ 10%
5. Does site pass cross browser test using IE/Firefox? ­ 10%
6. Is there some flair (either visually or technically) ­ that has been used to make the site
stand out? ­ 10%
7. Have the suggested HTML elements been used ­ i.e. header, nav, footer, H1,A,P,IMG,
DIV, UL/LI? Is there a home page and at least 1 internal page template? ­ 10%
8. Does the site adhere to the SEO guidelines that were suggested ­ i.e. Page title that is
keyword aware, curated meta description, only one h1 per page? ­ 5%
9. Does site pass HTML Validation? ­ 5%
10. Does site pass CSS Validation? ­ 5%
11. Are the site files laid out in the way suggested by tutor? Code is neat and tidy? (5%)

Well mate, you will have to choose one yourself & then ask questions based on that, noone here is going to actually do the site for you .

 

Regardless of what your choose you will have a base website with header,content,footer, etc. Have a look at http://html5boilerplate.com/.

 

Both need to be located so a google map integration will be required. Looks like integration with Social Media will be required for both too.

 

I dont really know what you want people here to do for you

College and University is about self study. If you don't know what you're doing it's because you haven't put the outside effort in.

 

I don't want to sound too harsh, but you can't blame your teacher not being around, you should have taken the initiative and come here earlier asking for help and links to tutorials and not waited until the day before your project is due!

 

Lesson learned! (Hopefully).
