Which logo to develop?

Featured Replies

I've sketched out a few logo ideas and wondering if you think any of them are worth developing. Or a combination of any of the fonts and fish?

Thanks

not very fiery - can you make one of the tails - say the first go more fiery and use a gradient from orange on the right to red on the left? also simplify the fish because the scales aren't going to reproduce at a small size

I like the bottom right one the least....

I think it's the fish that you should concentrate on first and hopefully the typography will follow. With a name like that, the logo's likely to me almost all about the image.

I reckon....could be wrong!

1st row, 2nd col (Typography) + 2nd row, 1st col (fish)

Thanks for the input, as you suggest I'll forget the typography for now and concentrate on the fish.

From suggestions above i'll look to simplify it and make the flames a bit clearer.

I've had another quick go at the fish on illustrator, finding it takes a bit of getting used to so bear with me.

Any opinions on these? I guess I should be trying to keep it as simple as possible, and make sure it will still look ok in black in white.

I've also tried an idea for a logo without the image, not sure if it's the way to go.

Your logo concept has a lot of potential.... but I see as being much more than a flat 1 sided fish.

You could create a stencil effect of a fish twisting through the water.... tail on fire... would look fab!

When you say stencil effect do you mean similar to the cutout filter on photoshop (like the photo of you on your homepage)?

Also, would recommend keeping the text and image seperate, i.e. stencil fish/flame image and the text above/beside, or should I try and incorporate the text into the stencil image?

I like the one below the top right (second top right!). The fish has that little bit more impact, imo.

I like your fishes in the second link, but, if I was you, I would stay away from using fiery text. It is a very generic look and will provide no unique identity to the business, in my opinion.

This may be a stupid comment, but I think the fish should be swimming to the right. It looks like it's going backwards to the left.

I'm not keen on the cartoony aspect of the recent designs. have you tried to develop the one you did originally that looked like it was made of fire?

it kind of reminded me of this logo though:

Thanks, I've read a few articles that have said to avoid free ttfs etc and let the logo speak for itself rather than rely on text effects.

mrsminkie: Now you mention it, I definitely agree with you on making him swim to the right. The one that looks like it is made from fire came from a photoshop tutorial so I will try and recreate the effect but with my original work.

This decision making process with logo design is a lot harder than it looks!

The font is FFF-tusj

I've got the pencil and paper out at work and had another, simpler idea. I think it's more suitable for a logo as there's less detail but it hopefully still tells a story.

It's only an idea for now (don't have PS or illustrator at work so I'll draw it up tonight)

These look cool, I think they have more potential than the fully rendered ones above.

I've neatened it up in photoshop and think it's going in the right direction.

Which of these do you think works? What improvements do you think it needs before I try making it in illustrator?

(edit) One with the font...

These look much better now, cleaner and sharper. The top one is preferable. Also, would look nice with the font of the 1st column, 2nd row.

Now what's the next step? I might try out a few other typographys but I think I'm happy with the design idea.

How can I make it look that bit more professional without making it too complex?

i dont ilke the font or the positionin of the font. ya need something stronger. that looks very light compared to the symbol. not 100% on the colour scheme either but thats ur choice.

have a look at logopond.com for ideas on layout and fonts etc...be patient and pull out the onces you think are similar to the layout ur looking for. bring them into your canvas and start arranging! love it!

Thanks. I agree on the font, think it does look a bit lightweight next to the logo.

Nothing is set with the colours as this is the first part of the project. I think I'll darken the blue a bit and go for a stronger orange.....

Edited by ffmedia

yeah, it'd strengthen it, make it more solid. at the minute it looks like a logo you'd see on in the Simpsons or soemthing. too colourful

i think the way the fish is it may suit a more flowing font. the fotn you have used above is very square where as the fish symbol is full of curves
