  2. Thanks for your replies In the end, I decided to add the cost of any additional resources to the final invoice subject to a maximum budget to be agreed beforehand, which client seemed happy enough for me to do - we'll see how it works out.
  3. Afternoon all, long time no see! Here's a question for the design folk among us: How do you tackle the issue of stock photography and other design resources when costing a job for a potential client? Do you factor in the cost of purchasing the images? Do you offer to cover part/all of the cost? Do you factor in the time it takes to source these images, and, if so, how do you predict the amount of time it'll take to find the perfect image, without overcharging or selling yourself short? I often find the process of searching for the perfect source image to be one of the most time-consuming stages of the design process. TIA.
  4. To add to what the others have said, there are some kerning issues, particularly on the word 'Empower'.
  5. Haha, didn't want to hedge my bets Hmm, I just checked, and there are exactly 5 nested groups so far..not sure what that means :\ I could always just try simplifying the groups in order to reduce the number of nests, I suppose. Thanks a lot for that, anyway, it's given me something to go on +1
  6. I'm using Photoshop CS5 to create a multi-layered, group-heavy PSD. The final file is intended for public consumption, so, ideally, I'd like it to be accessible to as many users - and therefore compatible with as many versions of Photoshop - as possible. However, I just tried to save the file, and was prompted with this message: Opening the file in CS4 after the save confirmed that a few of the layer groups were indeed corrupt. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  7. Agreed. I don't think it'd look out of place in the layout you're constructing now

  9. To add to the above: Personally, I prefer the serif font you use in your current portfolio, to the Museo font. It's just a better fit with the da Vinci style, IMO.

  15. How much would you charge to integrate a WordPress blog into a basic pre-existing static site?
  16. No worries Upscaling a JPEG file has the same effect as with a PNG file. In future, in order to be able to increase the dimensions without losing quality, your best bet would be to create the original file in vector format, using a vector program such as Adobe Illustrator, or Inkscape, which is free. Alternatively, just create your original JPEG, PNG etc at a size bigger than you think you'll need
