A thank you to all members

Featured Replies

We would like to say a big thank you to all the members of the forum that take the time to report spam and other questionable posts through the report post option that is on all posts :)

This helps us remove it quickly and keep the forum spam free and also resolve issues that could arise on here. So thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you....thank you, thank you for caring and helping us out.

Can I just say actually, that I've been a member of many many forums over the last 5 years, and the spam on this forum is very minimal, either the members here are much more mature than the other forums, or the moderation team are doing an excellent job, it's a combination of both I hope.

A little background, I was a major contributor in the Messenger Plus! Live Community Forums, beta testing the software, answering questions etc (My Profile, and started getting really annoyed by the ridiculous amount of spam on the forum, i ended up leaving in the end, after a massive post that I made, which caused lots of people to flame me, even though I was back by most, if not all, of the moderation team and admins. I'd show you a post from a moderator that I caused, but it's in an area called "Testing & Trashing" which you have to be a member to see.

The point I'm making is, that for such a large community that you have on this forum, it's a really really clean one, Dizi & ErisDS are the only moderators from the looks of things, and they're doing a very good job, and it's not just because this is a professional culture, there's another very popular site called Designers Talk, which is the same sort of idea, but it's awful for profanities, spamming, flaming etc. So I left there too... heh

Keep up the good work Dizi & ErisDS ;)

I'd like to reiterate Dizi's thanks.

I also want to say a very big thanks to Dizi for all her hard work. I haven't been around much recently and she really has held down the fort and done an excellent job. I hope to be back up to speed helping you keep things under control soon Dizi, but until then (and after), thank you, you're amazing :)

Dont forget ErisDS.......She'll come an getcha if you miss her out!

Seriously though.... It is a great forum :D

Yup the admins keep it well pruned, I too joined designertalk before here and found a lot of spamming flaming and just general adolescence behavior. This forum is far more grown up and I am happy i am a member of it :)

In all seriousness I love hanging around WDF for the very fact that it's mature and welcoming. Something we can all be proud of. Good skillz guys and keep up the great work.

Yes, I joined up there and was banned for saying they have bad moderating.

Stolen from wiki (<3 wiki) as explains better then i could

"Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. Flaming usually occurs in the social context of a discussion board, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) or even through e-mail. An Internet user typically generates a flame response to other posts or users posting on a site, and such a response is usually not constructive, does not clarify a discussion, and does not persuade others. Sometimes, flamers attempt to assert their authority, or establish a position of superiority over other users. Other times, a flamer is simply an individual who believes he or she carries the only valid opinion. This leads him or her to personally attack those who disagree. In some cases, flamers wish to upset and offend other members of the forum, in which case they can be called "trolls". Most often however, flames are angry or insulting messages transmitted by people who have strong feelings about a subject.

Some equate flaming with simply letting off steam, though the receiving party may be less than pleased. Similarly, a normal, non-flame message may have elements of a flame -- it may be hostile, for example -- but it is not a flame if its author seriously intends to advance the discussion. The word "flaming" is also sometimes used for long, intensive and heated discussions, even though insults do not occur.

Although the trading of insults is as old as human speech, flaming on the Internet, like many other online 'actions,' started in the Usenet hierarchies (although it was known to occur in the WWIVnet and FidoNet computer networks as well). Recently, several online forums have actively encouraged flaming amongst fellow posters"

how fitting lol. aside from that I rarely see any spam on here so everyone is obviously doing a great job! I don't even get a chance to report it since I never see it :)

You guys do an amazing job here as I never see spam! If I do, I will be sure to report it but big thanks to the people who contribute to keeping WDF spam-less.

There's been a sudden surge of it lately, it's getting a little irritating, the forum is starting to get saturated by what I hate the most and I'm not the only person who is beginning to get a little irritated by it.

This is a great forum for web designers.

I thought it was for pole dancers? damn, am i in the wrong place? :aggressive:

Although, after reading the above old posts, this place is brill for when I'm at work. No swearing and highly professional. All my boss see's when walking past the screen is the words "web designers forums" and doesn't even suspect i'm on here to burn time at work rather then do work! haha.

Kudos to the all the WDF team.
