Question about a price list
A price list? Hmm, I'm currently not working as a freelance web dev, even though I want to, but I would not advertise my exact prices on my website. I'll keep that between my clients and me. Not that I won't write a little about them, something like; I offer high quality web solutions at a fair and competitive price, will not be out of reach. But as stated, I'm not really into the business, so I might be wrong.

Any online tutorials creating Message boards from scratch?
Well it's not impossible to write one on your own. A great friend of mine just released public beta and I must say that it's a pleasure to use. I have never used a forum system I like as much as his (and that's not just because we're friends). But he's quite skilled when it comes to PHP and web dev in general so it haven't been that big of a problem for him. If you're new to PHP or web dev in general you might should consider looking for an easier project to start out with.

Is My Design Ok? or Not?
I like the website, nice design. The only "problem" I have is that I find the things on the site, too big. Not that it's something you should go and change immediately because the design it great! It's just by personal opinion.

CMS detection
Hi WDF, As you all probably has experienced, I have the period where I just don't have the motivation to create websites. Therefore I have a lot of other projects I'm working on, also more "serious" programming. One of my own projects is a server and website informaiton gathering tool. This tool is supposed to grab all available data about a given server or website. Currently I have completed the WHOIS llokup function and the portscanning function. One of the things there's also on my list of things to add, is a CMS detection function. What I'm interested in, and hope you can help me with, is what identifies a certain CMS? Which things charactarizes Wordpress, Joomla, MyBB etc? When I'm done, I will release the tool for the public

Is this familar to you?
Indeed, this gives at least a decent view on how freelance work can be. About the quitting your job thing, I would never do that if I got a job like that

Funding website
Do we need more of such websites? I mean, it's very hard to start such a website since every other new projet gets posted on Kickstarter or Indiegogo. Also, it's very hard to get the future users trust with such things. Because they have to trust you to actually give them the money to use the website. My advice; Find another project

Is a Apprenticeship worth it?
This will indeed be worth your time. There's no better place to get experience than in the "real world" if you get what I mean. You get to learn how to deal with customers and such plus you will probably also get a lot of coding experience at the same time.

Looking for a mentor
Okay, first I don't think you will find any member here who has the time or the will to take such a role. Second, you will be much better of by studying on your own. Show some enthusiasm and will and start making your own websites from the scratch. Yes, some one them may never be used, but you will learn something new from every project. Also, you will get websites to add to your portfolio, which is important if you want to get a job as web developer or designer. We (the forum) are here to help you if you need any help. Do you encounter a question which you simply can't find a solution for on your own, ask here People with more experience is always a great resource for knowledge, but you will get much more experience by finding the solution on your own. Don't loose all hope. The websites you will create in the beginning will never be of the same quality as websites made by a much more experienced developer. But by each website you create you will get better and you will create better and better websites.

on-page SEO
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is widely used for uploading and editing files on servers. SFTP, FTPS or SCP is getting more popular and should be used to increase the security. If you are new to FTP I would suggest you take a look at Filezilla (https://filezilla-project.org/). It's a FTP client and should be pretty straight forward to use. You simply enter your FTP login info and them you get a nice and clean interface, which even beginners should be able to understand.

Is it worth trying to revamp an old PC?
Simple answer, get a new one! You will simply kill it if you install Windows 8 on it. Also the RAM you will have to insert will probably bee DDR RAM remember DDR3 is the current standard There comes a time for every computer owner to realise that his old and much loved machine has to "die". It's a sad place to be, I've been there myself, but you will fast begin to love your upgrade. For me speed is essential and is a must for my machines. Therefore if I want to keep an old machine alive I simply install Linux on it. Windows will simply kill your mahcine slowly.. I know that you will have to use some extra money to buy a new one (they aren't that expensive anymore if you just want a machine for your daughter and mother). In the long end it will only benefit you all. If you still want to keep your machine alive you could install Linux on it
