A price list? Hmm, I'm currently not working as a freelance web dev, even though I want to, but I would not advertise my exact prices on my website. I'll keep that between my clients and me. Not that I won't write a little about them, something like; I offer high quality web solutions at a fair and competitive price, will not be out of reach. But as stated, I'm not really into the business, so I might be wrong.

They have likely written a script that does multiple checks against sites such as:
Check the /admin, /administrator, /login, /cms directories for keywords or CMS specific html. Search for CMS keywords in the source and footer (E.G Powered By Wordpress). Check meta data. Check for specific domains for hosted CMS's (wordpress.com/cats). Just a guess though. They charge a fair amount, I'm guessing they have pretty fool proof algorithms to find this stuff.

Some, but not all, provide a meta tag that you could extract with a regex:
<meta name="generator" content="CMS Name" />Another hint is folder structure, for example Wordpress contains a lot of:/wp-content...There are other ways, I'm sure...but those two might give you a steer.

Okay, first I don't think you will find any member here who has the time or the will to take such a role. Second, you will be much better of by studying on your own. Show some enthusiasm and will and start making your own websites from the scratch. Yes, some one them may never be used, but you will learn something new from every project. Also, you will get websites to add to your portfolio, which is important if you want to get a job as web developer or designer.

Do you encounter a question which you simply can't find a solution for on your own, ask here People with more experience is always a great resource for knowledge, but you will get much more experience by finding the solution on your own. Don't loose all hope. The websites you will create in the beginning will never be of the same quality as websites made by a much more experienced developer. But by each website you create you will get better and you will create better and better websites.

Never ever use those ****ty sites claiming to boost your site with 10.000 links! The search engines has gone pretty advanced and they have learned to detect that and will actually rank you lover because of that. Instead back links, high quality content, update it frequently and submit it to Google yes they have their own "submit form" for submitting your site to their engine so they know about it. Do that for the biggest search engines and work on your SEO and ranking through back links, high quality content, update it frequently.

Simple answer, get a new one! You will simply kill it if you install Windows 8 on it. Also the RAM you will have to insert will probably bee DDR RAM remember DDR3 is the current standard
 
There comes a time for every computer owner to realise that his old and much loved machine has to "die". It's a sad place to be, I've been there myself, but you will fast begin to love your upgrade. For me speed is essential and is a must for my machines. Therefore if I want to keep an old machine alive I simply install Linux on it. Windows will simply kill your mahcine slowly..
 
I know that you will have to use some extra money to buy a new one (they aren't that expensive anymore if you just want a machine for your daughter and mother). In the long end it will only benefit you all. If you still want to keep your machine alive you could install Linux on it

I will soon be starting on taking a flight certificate for gliders. This is a personal dream that hopefully will come true and I can't believe that this is happening! I'm for light and simplistic website designs. I personally think light websites seems more open and acommodating. Also I read somewhere that people tend to stay longer on light websites than on dark ones.
 
On the other hand it depends highly on the website itself. I'm currently making a website for my wrestling club and a completely light on wouldn't fit here. But where I to make a website for a dentist or such a dark website wouldn't work either since it might scare the customers/patients away.

NO, you are not safe from viruses and malware on OS X. It's less likely that you will get infected but you are never safe, not even on Linux. Yes there has been some problems with the new retina MacBooks overheating. Apple should have fixed this problem with the new release and afaik it only affected the 15" model. Linux and UNIX is NOT the same and will never be. OS X is the only big UNIX based OS left. Linux is a UNIX-like operating system but you should never mention Linux and UNIX as the same. A few months ago a big tech support company released a paper on which Windows machines there were most reliable. The winner as the most reliable Windows machine was a MacBook Pro 13" late 2012 with Windows installed. Think about that! And for general information (and to kick the Windows users in the face ) you do not need to defrag Mac's. In fact you will ruin the file system if you do so. OS X takes care of the fragmented files for you so no need to worry about that.  
To answer OP's original question, I'm a Mac user and I will never go back to Windows. I switched to Mac as soon as I got the money and I have never made a better choice in my life. It's reliable as hell, never had a single crash, break down or anything like that. I don't remember who mentioned that you can't get useful software for web dev on Mac's? Have you ever taken a look at Coda 2? Imho it beats Dreamweaver at every single point.

First off, I'm not expert but I couldn't hold myself back from mentioning that it's called "Magento" and not "magenta", could be a typo. I will agree with the two posts above, where's the CMS? Is the website you are linking to running it? If so, it would be nice to see the standard layout of the CMS.
 
You are also making it sound like Wordpress and Magento is the same kind of CMS. That's right right, Worpress is highly focussed on personal websites such as blogs (I know you can do must more with Wordpress). But Magento is an e-commerce software aimed at making web shops. I don't see any shop on your website, so I can't see how you can compare your website with Magento?
 
One last thing, you are stating that you CMS system is better? Magento and Wordpress is big and known system, they are tested and proved worthy of their title. You need to provide us with more information if you want our opinion on your product.

A question - do you really need them to show count?

1. HTML - just change the your url and the text to share. Put the code in your HTML file, where you want the buttons to appear.
