It really depends on the style of the rest of the website. Search online for some free fonts and see what you can find, you may not need to incorporate images into the banner if there is a slideshow on the website? Image wise - you could try something like this: http://www.warringtonandhaltonhospitals.nhs.uk/Foundation/images/website-banner2.jpg Depends on what images you have access to. If you post a link to their current website, i'll try and give you some better advice.

I offer clients support when designing / hosting their website. Some clients pay to have support and I prioritise these clients and try and help with any issues they have. Often, this generally includes certain problems that have nothing to do with me, but I try and help to keep them sweet. Clients that don't pay for support I tell them they may have to wait longer, I won't help them with their own IT issues and often just point them in the right direction rather than fix the problem. Unless of course it is a problem with their website and my fault. I think in your cost you should include some sort of support charge, so clients know whether or not they are supported and maybe have guidelines as to where you will and will not help? I try and be flexible with what I help clients with, but this may possibly become a bad thing one day when I have more clients, more problems etc.

Second this. It's what I use whenever i need a twitter feed. I used the twitter widget thing before, then restyled it all but there is really no need when you can just use this!

Hi Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place, but i'm trying to find out about the rules around creating fan websites without getting myself into any legal bother! Me & a friend are setting up a fansite for a singer and i'm just wondered about how I can go about doing this without breaching any copyright laws etc. I take it for every image that is used i have to first get permission from the owner and link back to their website? I wanted to have an area where users could submit their own images, but I imagine this would then go against all of this as they would just be uploading any images they found online. Also, is it worth contacting the record label directly to find out what they do / do not want me to publicise? Maybe that way I can get 'exclusive' stuff that some fansites seem to offer (pictures, videos etc). Has anyone here created a fansite? I can't imagine why the rules would be any different to a 'normal' website. Thanks for reading and sorry again if I have posted this in the wrong place! Tommy

I don't think I will be anytime soon, my iPhone and MacBook are more than enough for what I need. Although maybe at some point I'd like to start developing applications for the iPhone / iPad.

I wouldn't drop school. I'm doing college, freelancing and working doing 'web publishing' for a local company. If you leave school and everything goes tits up in two, even five years time, you have no qualifications and are stuck. I'd advise you stay in education and try and work part time, be it for an agency, freelance or both. Best of luck!

I'm sure this probably sounds ridiculously bad from a security point of view, but after several failed attempts at logging into a website i rarely use i thought it would be helpful if i could set more than one password. With gmail i can login as either thomas.gladding or just thomasgladding and still get to the same place, so was thinking you could have multiple passwords set up to an account. For example if you used password123 for an account, and password1 for another account you could have them both as accepted passwords. I think that makes sense. Just wondered if anyone knows of any website's that does this? I understand it's probably a really bad idea and if someone got the password for one of your accounts, they could get into anything and i know you're meant to have different passwords for different accounts, just got me thinking on a boring Tuesday afternoon i guess...

Use Mac for all my freelance and personal stuff, at work i have to use windows for corporate stuff and mac for everything else. Could never go back to Windows full time though, or use it for my freelance stuff. Just too damn unreliable!

I was thinking about it, mentioned it to a few people but everyone seems to think it's a bit pointless. I might do next year though, it's something to add to the CV.
