i've been using drupal for a while now and for me it's easily the best open-source cms out there, you can bend it to your whim ( and the client's ), although it may take time to set things up the first time round but it gets easy once you're use to it

Move to Linux
I've had to get to use to working on ubuntu having spent most time working on windows but it really didn't take long to adjust (not even a day)...from personal experience I'd say that web design/development is a smoother process

custom linux build but all computers in the office run it though, aside from one mac running on snow leopard, there's not really that many machines to warrant thin client type tech to be used just yet, even though it's something we provide to clients

a good portfolio and many many job applications, just keep applying and once you get invited for an interview the ball's in your court no matter how much experience you may or may not have

you may also want to try adding the script at the bottom of the page ( just before </body> ) instead of in the <head>

Warn the client before suspending the account, if he's happy with it then there's no problem and he should pay for it, if he still refuses to pay after the warning then what can you do but suspend it

as others have said.. also you may want to perform some validation checks before (javascript) and after (php) the form is submitted, and something like a CAPTCHA could help minimize the amount of spam you get
