Need a good cost-effective UK-based host

Featured Replies

Can someone please recommend a good UK based host who wont rip me off and provide a good service. I only want to host a handful of sites. Nothing too demanding, one wordpress and rest statics

thanks

I use TSOhost, I find them great. I've never had any problems with my hosting so can't comment on the support side of things but I hear they're very good.

Prices are cheap too. I think I pay £5 per month to host up to 6 websites. Great stuff.

I've just moved to TSOHost a few weeks ago having been on a VPS with a random company based in India for the last couple of years.

Couldn't be happier with TSO so far, paying just £5 a month for an only slightly slower service than I was previously paying £40 for, and the uptime has truly been 100% so far. It's "cloud hosting" too, so it feels quite cutting edge and future-proof, and they have a really nice bespoke control panel which makes it super easy to manage all your domains, sites, email accounts and so on.

Customer service has been a bit abrupt (bordering on rude) on the few times I had to contact them in the first couple of days as I was having problems with the migration of my sites, but I've experienced this with most tech support in my time so I just kind of ignore it and as long as they fix the issues (which they have done so far) I don't really mind!

another +1 for TSOhost

I've in the same position and looking to move from an american host to UK.

I've been pondering eUKHost for a while, contacted someone via their online messaging system and got the feeling they're flexible on prices (lots of 'I'll just have to speak to my manager to see what we can do' in the conversation). Or maybe that's just sales talk....

We provide Ecommerce Hosting plans setup on dual quad core servers with SSD hard drives and also powered by Nginx web server to enhances performance of server and get better performance for various shopping carts.

TSOhost and Vidahost are the same company. I've been with Vidahost for a couple of years with a reseller account on their Cloud infrastructure. Site performance is excellent and their 24x7 support is truly world class. The custom control panel is nice too.

We have cut-priced domain names & reseller hosting available - backed by UK support and a two-tiered end-user and reseller control panel, let me know if you have any questions.

First time I have heard of you guys, I must say your prices are very high for the features listed on your site.

Almost everywhere else for £5 a month one can get double the features and addons for free and mostly all unlimited.

Why SQL database capacity is 500mb only? And that one must buy as a addon.

Hosting is like a mobile contract, very cheap. But you guys are very expensive.

Another vote for TSOhost. I've personally found their tech support guys to be very helpful.

One great service that they offer is a free migration of your sites from other hosts. They don't just copy the files over but create databases and change all the usernames and passwords in your code etc.

It was so easy to do that I ended up moving several sites over from other hosts, and now I can access everything from one account, which is great.

Being honest, I am rather bemused and humoured that you think our services are expensive but hey ho, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would be interested to hear where you can receive unlimited shared hosting with enhanced features (with no limits or extra cost for add-ons) for only £5.

Yes sorry, but you guys are very expensive. Can you share your server's speed and specs?

Also I see that your domain name hostlove.co.uk is just a year old, so you are a relatively a new hosting company.

Godaddy, 1and1, 123-reg and many more offer much more features (some unlimited) for much lower price.

but ey, you are doing the right thing advertising your services and it doesn't matter if you are cheap or expensive.

I wish your company success

Had a website with squirrelhosting.co.uk for some time now. It's so far been the best UK based shared hosting this particular site has been on. Nice and fast handles simultaneous traffic. The guys there will move migrate you if you ever need to upgrade to VPS or Dedicated.
