October 18, 201312 yr Alright, looking at your Introduction, it says you are a web developer. Hii friends, I am Mike Pendino and i am From United State. Currently i have been working as a web Developer in MNC. I have heard a lots of about this forum and personally i have seen this forum so i would like to say this forum is really good for every web designer or developer also. Thanks Mike Pendino Web Developer Obviously if you a web developer, you should know how to create a site....
October 22, 201312 yr Certainly not much of a writer (i apologise in advance if English is not his first language)
October 22, 201312 yr if you know wordpress, you would know you can have a responsive site in wordpress... When you say you know wordpress, do you mean you know how to install a theme and basics like that? If thats the case you're not really a web developer tbh.
October 22, 201312 yr this is very general question, becasue business website itself is a very general phrase. general answer: 1. if you want to create it by yourself, you will need knowledge of HTML, CSS, javascript and maybe some server-side scripting languge (like PHP). needs lot of effort and time 2. if you have some basic skills and enthusiasm, you can set up a wordpress website, buy a template and install some plugins, probably the easiest and cheapest DIY solution 3. if you are ok with using a web service, there are plenty of them, just google 'create website'. i would recommend Squarespace. this would be the cheapest solution, however, possibilities will be limited the most important thing to focus on is the website content. if you offer quality content with information value, people will come to your web
October 25, 201312 yr If you only know WordPress than it's absolutely fine for you to build a well looking and responsive website. When I started my website I only knew Joomla. I started with pretty simple and tacky website which I had to revamp a few times in order to get what I always wanted to have. However, as you progress you will be forced to know more and more about HTML, JAVA and CSS, so your proper web development knowledge will come one day, trust me.
February 23, 201412 yr For basic responsive sites, you only really need to extend your knowledge of CSS, and understand media queries. Obviously, the content flow, and the structure of the document will be of greater importance now, too; you'll need to plan out how the content will appear on mobiles, and how, as the screen sizes grow bigger, that content will be presented. (if you take a mobile-first approach). Start also thinking about device capabilities, and bandwidth considerations... You're not going to load the same 4MB banner image on a mobile screen as you would on the desktop (personally, I don't think there's ever a need to even load a 4MB image on a desktop, but that's a rant I'll save for elsewhere ) There's a huge array of fantastic resources out there (on responsive design), I'd recommend starting here: http://bradfrost.github.io/this-is-responsive/resources.html As you delve deeper, you'll see it's more than just media queries, you need to understand the different approaches, and reasoning's behind those approaches too. And as your understanding grows, there's hundreds of frameworks to help you (Bootstrap, Foundation, to name a few). Play with them, break them apart, resize your screens, check them on mobile devices, and see what's happening! Edited February 23, 201412 yr by KaiserK108
March 24, 201412 yr Hi, Responsive websites are the need of the day. Seeing the increasing penetration of smart phones you need to know CSS so it will be nice if you start learning PHP and CSS.
April 20, 201412 yr There are a lot of responsive wordpress templates that you could use and customize
