Tips for logo design
Hello! for start, creating a good logo requires good understanding the client and his business. This is the most important thing not just about branding, but mostly about all the creative business out there. If you can understand someone's problem deeply, you can help them solve their problem just as if it was your own. And it's obvious that if you do something for yourself, you will do your best For the same reason it's important that you like and trust your client's business (and they trust you). I would characterize good logotype as followed: Simple The typography is readable and clear. Consumer is able to understand the symbol also on small resolutions. The basic version is in one color and can be easily displayed on any background (eg white on black) No ****in rainbows! Easily remembered Basic version of the logo is easily remembered at first sight and easily reproduced by anyone (you know how to roughly draw logos like Nike, Adidas, Apple, Windows, Shell, IBM etc, don't you?') Understandable Yeah, I know it's sooo cool if you have three headed dragon ****ting yogurts as a symbol, but would people understand what it means, if it's for a grocery store? Original If the logo is a simple label in a circle, it can look good, but there are plenty of logos like this and the logo just won't stand out of the crowd. Create something interesting. If we'd talked about the creation process itself: 1. learn as much as you can about the client, brand, business, target audience and competition 2. study the industry, learn about the topic as much as you can. get inspired, look for similar brands and realizations (but don't manage to copy). 3. turn off your computer, take a paper. brainstorm. draw rough sketches of any idea you got (as many as you can produce), you will select good ones later, now you just need to put something on paper, doesn't matter how silly they are. combine your ideas and create various derivates. 4. pick several good ideas and create slightly more complex versions of them. again, try various derivates and combinations, play 5. discuss with client. now you can turn on your computer and start in illustrator. create various digital versions of the ideas you picked, start playing with colors. discuss with client. 6. refine, repeat step 5 so much simple, isn't it?

How to create Business website ?
this is very general question, becasue business website itself is a very general phrase. general answer: 1. if you want to create it by yourself, you will need knowledge of HTML, CSS, javascript and maybe some server-side scripting languge (like PHP). needs lot of effort and time 2. if you have some basic skills and enthusiasm, you can set up a wordpress website, buy a template and install some plugins, probably the easiest and cheapest DIY solution 3. if you are ok with using a web service, there are plenty of them, just google 'create website'. i would recommend Squarespace. this would be the cheapest solution, however, possibilities will be limited the most important thing to focus on is the website content. if you offer quality content with information value, people will come to your web

Great idea for a website but no experience in web design or coding?
hello! if you think you have a good idea, create a startup. if you dont have enough money, you will need an investment into your idea - a person who will believe that if he gives you his money, you will create somethink that can make him more money in return. to convince investors about your startup idea, you need to make few things clear first - e.g. who will be the target audience? how your startup will make money? etc. best think to start with is to develop a business model canvas. watch this video: http://www.businessmodelgeneration.com/canvas there is a great online course at Stanford University, which will give you more answers about this topic http://venture-lab.org/venture

Re-design #2
the disabled scrolling is a bug or feature? as a user, i would expect to be able to use mousewheel, not just the navigation to scroll throught the website's sections

New trend for web designing in 2013
for me, flat design is just a phrase. web design is probably the fastest evolving design branch. dont take flat design as a trend, take it as evolution. today, websites are simplier and cleaner than ever, there is huge emphasis on content and its form. the design is just adapting to be less disturbing for the users, so they can focus on content.

What is the difference between Web 3.0 and Web 2.0?
personally, i'm not a big fan of these phrases. for me, there is no web 2.0 or web 3.0, it's just the web and it's evolving and it's evolving fast. each of these phrases can be defined as a next era of the web, a different approach to connecting people and information throughout the web using certain collection of new technologies.

CSS issue - can someone explain
the properties specified in style attribute always overwrite the styles inherited from specific class (if you dont use !important) as for the classes, the definitions further in the code overwrite those specified before them. so, if you write .topmargin { margin-top: 50px; } .box { margin: 0 16px; } the margin-top property from the class .topmargin will be overwritten by margin property specified in .box class. if you still need to have .topmargin before .box in the CSS code, you can make a new definition for .box.topmargin: .box.topmargin { margin-top: 50px; } however, if you need to use .box with .topmargin, you maybe arent using it in the right context and better defining a new class for the boxes with larger top margin

Starting with HTML, CSS, etc
hello there! depends on what you want to accomplish by building up your own website. if you are really going to learn all of these technologies, its gonna take you some time. althought they are all somehow about programming, each one of them is slightly different. but if you really want to learn all of this and you are aware that it can take time(maybe months to learn enough to build a dynamic website), i would recommend you do it this way: 1. HTML it's the core basics of website development. great resource (not only for HTML) is w3schools website http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp you can start learning HTML5 directly, it is just a newest version of HTML. all HTML specifications are a subgroup of XML language (if you want to go deeper like leonardo dicaprio, learn XML first, you will understand HTML better). There are also older specifications like HTML4, XHTML 1.0, XHTML 1.1, but i see no use for you to learn them. future is in HTML 5, its also simplier and cleaner than previous versions. important things to know about HTML: what are elements and their attributes. pair and single elements. basic structure of HTML document (doctype, header, body). how to create a link (between HTML pages), how to embed an image. most common elements like H1(...H6), P, A, IMG, TABLE. 2. CSS while HTML is used for definition of the website content structure, CSS is used for definition of its visual appearance. With CSS, you can define attributes like font color, backgrounds, shadows, layout, sizing and even animations. you can start with learning CSS3 directly, there are just some new properties in CSS3, but basics are the same. again, start looking for knowledge at w3schools: http://w3schools.com/css/css_intro.asp important things to know about CSS: css classes and IDs and difference between them. what are css properties and their values. how to assign specific CSS to HTML elements, how to include CSS files in HTML document. basic units like px,em,pt,percentage. various block models and their behavior. basic properties like font, color, background, width, height, border, float. knowing HTML and CSS is a great start and as soon as you learn their basics, you are able to create a simple website that can be published on web. if you want to go further, you will need some programming skills - learn about variables and functions for start: how to define a variables, variable types, functions and their attributes, how to call a function, how to create one... PHP will be an easy language to learn the programming basics you can then use to learn other languages like javascript. 3. PHP and SQL CSS and HTML (and javascript) are considered as client-side technologies. with HTML you can create a simple web document containing static articles. howewer, if you need to process data, dynamically generate content or evaluate user input, you will need a server-side technology like PHP (another server-side languages: ruby, .NET, java, python, ...). PHP document is compiled on server and sends HTML output to the client's (website visitor's) browser. SQL is a database system to store website data like articles, users, images on the server. these data can be requested and processed by the server-side language (in your case, PHP) and then shown on the website. again, look for the w3schools tutorials. there are many important things you will need to know to create a dynamic website with PHP and SQL, so i wont mention them here, cause this is much harder then learning basics of HTML and CSS 4. Javascript javascript is a client-side language. it can change the structure of an HTML document, change it's elements attributes, CSS properties etc on certain events like mouse click. there are tons of ready-made plugins and libraries for javascript, just learn the basic syntax and then look for jQuery library and its plugins, most of them are well documented and easy to use. if you by any chance understand german, check out this course: https://iversity.org/courses/web-engineering-i-grundlagen-der-web-entwicklung
