November 18, 201114 yr Hi everyone. First time post for me I havent made too many websites, but I have done a small site for my mate, who is a personal trainer. Its just a basic site which i have used cushy cms so he can update it himself. Anyway, I am not too sure on the front page. Im wondering how i can make it cleaner, more premium ? Any ideas would be great. www.bencamara.com Thanks Dave Edited November 18, 201114 yr by hal8
December 2, 201114 yr I dont think it so bad at all, crisp and pure. I might suggest you change the navigation to a more css horizontal bar, maybe jazz up the main image with a better slider, and generally create a container for the site to ride the white space. It will only be an improvement if you get a good design. --and change the fonts Its only my opinion, and just a suggestion.
December 2, 201114 yr I like it. The only change I would make would be the fonts. They look a little jagged or something - cant quite put my finger on it but they don't look great. The overall design is nice, though.
December 2, 201114 yr Switch the body font for a sans to give a clean, modern feel. You're already using a sans on the bio, the serif on the front page looks out of place. Oh, and while we're at it, 19px is not enough line-height for a 16px body font. Try 1.5 (no units). Edited December 2, 201114 yr by Renaissance-Design
December 2, 201114 yr Currently using the latest version of chrome and I've found a small problem with your social networks at the bottom of your home page. The twitter icon is underneath where it is supposed to be. Nice, simple website though
December 3, 201114 yr Author Hey thanks everyone for the help and ideas. I will try some of your ideas to see how it goes. He wanted a white background, so think hes happy with that. Thanks again.
December 7, 201114 yr If i may add something: - "Follow Ben" should be few pixels higher to match the logo and close the composition; - Change the ,,READ MORE" link to something like dark/mid gray, and obviously hover change effect. I would even consider small button instead; - I don't like the gradient on the side bottom blocks (mail etc.). I suggest changing the mail icon to something modern a'like, i googled "white email icon" and the first image result was nice (since i think i can't post links yet). It's a nice and simple design in my opinion !
December 7, 201114 yr Good job. Incorrect code (http://www.bencamara...-responses.html): <div class="social"> <p>Follow Ben</p> <a class="facebook" target="_blank" href="/"> <img src="http://www.bencamara.com/images/facebook.png" alt="Ben Camara Facebook" </a> <a class="twitter" target="_blank" href="/"> <img src="http://www.bencamara.com/images/twitter.png" alt="Ben Camara Twitter" </a> </div> <!-- END SOCIAL --> Edited December 7, 201114 yr by Lev
December 7, 201114 yr Looks good, but two small suggestions. The images are strong, but you could put some strong straplines on top (in white) to allow visitors to know what his services are. Also the menu at the top looks more like a breadcrumb menu. Maybe a bit confusing. Apart from that a clean strong design!
