Need help with website (ideas)
I don't agree. Wordpress is very versitile and is a fantastic jumping-off point for a massive veriety of site types. You said yourself joomla is only "easy" if you know how. It is convulted and complex. There a tons of plugins for wordpress that allow you to do almost anything. ecommerce plugins, Form Plugins. this is made with wordpress. More examplesof sites using wordpress for stuff that isnt just blogging (notice Spotify is on that list.). OP, i strongly urge you just to take a look at what is available. If your php isnt great then you can just use work that has already been done for you. And whats more, wordpress is light and fast so you have a great base for a nice responsive site for your client.

Need help with website (ideas)
The site you linked to looks liked it had a fairly decent budget. Eveything is really high quality so the client should know he's going to have to spend decent money to get a site that has that level of polish. As for what software to use, I'd recomend WordPress. You would be supprised just how flexilble WordPress can be. You can easily mix static and dynamic pages and even static and dynamic content on one page.

New Portfolio
That is a really bizzare point of view, man.

Marks Master Baking
And like I said, its hard to comment on the cakes because the images are small and hard too see against the yellow.

How to make my mates site better looking
I like it. The only change I would make would be the fonts. They look a little jagged or something - cant quite put my finger on it but they don't look great. The overall design is nice, though.

cakes are ok but its really hard to tell with that tiny image gallery and the bright, glaring colours.

What ever happened to the server prize draw?
Thread was locked and nothing has been posted about a winner. Has the whole thing died a death or what?

Feedback required - new design to our website..
I love it! I like how light the whole thing feels. Its really easy on the eyes and the content has room to breathe. I personally wouldnt make the background darker, I like it how it is.

Product Website WIP
I messed up the files for a while and didn't think i'd get them back, just deleted my post quickly to deal with it. Sorry about that! Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you regarding the CTAs. I plan to remove the massive buttons at the top, just need to work out how to balance it again with the menu when they are gone. Images as text is indeed because of the slider I chose to use - that will be dealt with by replacing it with a better one. as to the concerns over the colours, this product is aimed at business owners, not the people who will be ordering the food. The color scheme is designed to be inline with the WebSetGo! brand. Thanks again for the feedback I will definately make some changes based on what you said.

Product Website WIP
I'm currently working on the product information site for our soon to be released online menu software (allows takeaway owners to accept orders online). I've reached the stage where I would benefit from some feedback on the design. Nothing is set in stone as of now so be as honest as you like. Please note that the wording on the slides will be made better before we launch the site. http://websetgo.net/decibowip/ Thanks in advance for your honest feedback.

Redesign feedback
The redesign is a million times better. I couldnt look at the old one for too long because I couldnt work out how to turn off the talking. The redesign is light and airy and it gives off a really nice and professional feel. My only critisism is the text "State of Tennessee Locksmith License Number 242" in the header is a little hard to read.

Custom Sneakers Web Site
It loads so slowly! You really need to move to a faster host. Also this is just a pre-made theme isnt it?

How do I align lists side by side equally accross the page
I did this recently using floats. Float one list left, one right, and don't float the final, instead, set it's margin like this margin: auto auto; as long as there is enough room in their container (width-wise) they will all sit side by side and will take up all the space in the container when you add width: 30%; to them all. If you have padding etc on them you will need to reduce the percentage to ensure they will fit. result:
