August 12, 201114 yr Hello everyone, Here at Liquid Drive we recently got round to creating a logo idea but it's not something which seems wold fit well into a design. I wanted to work on something a little more simple and I quickly got some rough ideas together yesterday evening before my internet decided to completely shut down on me, I've had the ISP company round today and it's fixed. Here are the logos I put together and would appreciate some feedback. Do you think I'm going down the right path or are they out of the question? If your wondering what company its for, its for my own Web Design and Development company. Edited August 12, 201114 yr by MikeChipshop Image removed upon request
August 12, 201114 yr Simple is definitely better. Although the original is a fine piece of work it really isn't a good logo as it can't be re-created in monotones or simply in anyway. As for your designs. Forget 2, 3 and 4 as the partial use of typography will just confuse the viewer. I'd stick with the full wording so either 1 or 5. Not sure of the leading on the type though as it seems to feel a bit cluttered to me.

Thanks for the feedback Mike, I wasn't completely towards the ideas on 2 3 and 4 as you said they can be misleading towards the viewer. I'm going to experiment with a few different fonts now and I'll re-post the new designs later this evening, trying to fix a few other problems with clients atm .
August 12, 201114 yr I agree. Also, you are incorporating the liquid aspect in the logo, but I think there is scope with the word drive as well. To me that word evokes strength, dynamic ability, power, forward-thinking. A possible way to indicate this could be the text leaning forward, like this (rough) idea:-

Still waiting for my surprise?... I understand completely where your coming from... I'll experiment different ways to incorporate drive into the logo also. I'm going through some fonts now to see if any of them look better than the original ones above. I really appreciate your feedback by the way! Edited August 12, 201114 yr by Liquid-Drive
August 12, 201114 yr is ur company called LiquidDrive or Liquidrive? Edited August 12, 201114 yr by alzer81
August 12, 201114 yr think its been done before 100 million times. i think you need to try think up a concept. your name has so many possibilities and putting in a simple drop simple instead of a letter has been done to death before. also wouldnt be taken on the font choice. its a bit too sharp. obviously the attached has taken me about 5 mins to do but ya can see where im coming from with it. there is a concept there. (maybe didnt execute it too well but ya can see where im comin from) You should sit down and see how ya can merge the words together to create something that works. put liquid logo into Google and you'll get 100,000 logos that look the exact same as your one above.
August 12, 201114 yr Alzer, there is no denying you are good at graphic design. You have been around this forum a long time and you seem to win most of the competitions. But at the end of the day, this guy needs to do it for himself. You've basically ditched his whole concept on the basis that you could do something so much better in only 5 mins and I personally think that's quite discouraging. At the end of the day, he needs to come up with something for himself. The idea needs to be his (with perhaps a little guidance from more experienced guys like yourself). ps, I did a google image search for liquid logo. There were 100,000s of different takes on it. Some were really good, others not so, but none were like his. pps - yes I do like you're take on it. It is very clever and well thought out. Edited August 12, 201114 yr by oakleaves
August 12, 201114 yr i never said to use my logo. why would he? im just saying that he needs to develop a more solid concept as in my opinion the current one is weak. thats all im saying... google Drop Logo and you'll mind plenty the same... Edited August 12, 201114 yr by alzer81

August 12, 201114 yr I agree with Mike to use the full wording. However I don't think replacing one of the letters with the water drop works. Have you tried using the water drop as the negative space in the U?
August 12, 201114 yr Author @Alzer: Thank-you very much for your feedback. I appreciate the concept you have shown me and it has given me plenty of ideas. I have mentioned in previous threads that design, is not my strongest but I do my fair amount of research looking for inspiration and you have given me exactly that. @oakleaves: Thanks for your concern about my feelings when it comes to feeling discouraged. I appreciate that people point out my weaknesses and I thrive on knowing where I'm going wrong because it motivates me to correct and work on what I have. PS: FYI, The logo I previously made wasn't going to be black when it was completed by the way I would've added colour once I was happy with the way things we're laid out. Keep the feedback coming! I really do appreciate it!
August 12, 201114 yr I thrive on knowing where I'm going wrong because it motivates me to correct and work on what I have. That's a good attitude to have. You should go a long way.. Looking forward to seeing your next concept.

Perhaps experiment with some more interesting fonts too.
August 12, 201114 yr Author Just a thought: http://library.thinkquest.org/26038/low-tech/en/_/art/_.html Thank-you very much for the thought but I'm trying to move into something a little more simple and cleaner. I should've said at first that I was looking for a cleaner and more simple logo. Thanks, yet again for the feedback!
August 12, 201114 yr Hi Joe! Good to see my logo is online, although i had hoped that the copyright text i placed on it was still intact. Furthermore, i don't appreciate you passing my design(s) off as your own. Liquid Drive was meant to be a 50/50 partnership, and I don't take the credit for YOUR site work. On reflection, yes, the logo does seem a bit much, however you only had to email me to let me know, and i would have happily worked on something more visually concise. Also, i don't appreciate the fact that their is no mention of your 'partner' in these threads. Yesterday i was organizing my site, ready to put up the logo, and would have described it as a joint venture with a partner in web design. By the way, this page banner i'm working on for the site, would you like it in the old style or new, as 'our' identity is clearly worth voting for on here before mentioning it to the designer. Thanks Very Much Dave
August 12, 201114 yr so dave, u designed the logo? i dont think its great. #CouldDoBetter stir it up... Edited August 12, 201114 yr by alzer81
August 12, 201114 yr Author Ummm... probably best to keep the arguments to a private place lads. Sorry Mike but I'm just going to clear this up so nobody thinks I am in the wrong here. Firstly, would you have a copyright over the image which is on the website: http://www.liquid-drive.co.uk Furthermore, i don't appreciate you passing my design(s) off as your own. Liquid Drive was meant to be a 50/50 My reply was: "Here at Liquid Drive we recently got round to creating a logo" - I didn't declare it as... mine Also, i don't appreciate the fact that their is no mention of your 'partner' in these threads. I had recently posted a thread but unfortunately... Dave didn't come across it: http://www.webdesignerforum.co.uk/topic/52417-hey/ I hope this cleared a few things up, we are discussing it now. I feel extremely embarrassed, I hope nobody thinks I'm sly. This was simply a miss understanding of David in my opinion. We've cleared things up now. I'll create a new topic in following days with some ideas because I still want to work on a logo for LD. Edited August 12, 201114 yr by Liquid-Drive

August 12, 201114 yr Author Lol, he jumped to conclusions and we've discussed our issues. I'm now working alone! Back to the thread, I'll be using the feedback to put some ideas together this evening after I've finished with a few other problems.
August 12, 201114 yr Author so you mean your not partners anymore? Unfortunately... and FYI it wasn't completely due to this misunderstanding.
August 12, 201114 yr ur current logo reads LED too. good idea to change the identity. your on the right track going along with a more minimalistic idea but i just think the concept needs refined
August 12, 201114 yr Unfortunately... and FYI it wasn't completely due to this misunderstanding. Probably for the best. That post was very unprofessional.
August 12, 201114 yr Author Probably for the best. That post was very unprofessional. Indeed and I'm sorry for it to have landed here.
August 12, 201114 yr Does anybody mind if I chuck some of my clothes in, seeing as there is a lot of dirty laundry being washed in public... Whilst your former partner was indeed a silly boy to try and deal with this issue publically, there may also be a lesson for you to learn with regards to setting shared boundaries with a future partner. A business partnership, just as in a romantic partnership, is often shattered by the small things rather than the big things.
