How long to make a front page mockup ?

Featured Replies

Topic of the month.

Mock up as in just sketched the elements out in photoshop to show some ideas? An hour at most id say, finished page pending customers sign off shouldnt take more than a day if you ask me.

Then again my reply should be "how long is a piece of string"

4 days is a bit of a p*** take I think for the average client.

Yeah a PSD ready for HTML conversion. Hmm I think a day is not much. I mean, the frontpage / secondary page contain the whole visual identity and look & feel of the site isnt'it ? Plus, shouldn't there be some research to create something that really fits the company ?

I'd like to know the opinion of more designers of this forum. Do you also ask one day for it ?

You asked to design not to research etc, a front page in my book is 1 psd not 5 for all the other pages...

Hi, I'm asked how long time do I need to produce front page PSD mockups. Do you think 2 days sounds reasonable ? What about 4 days ?

This was your first post

They want a front page plus a "secondary page" they say.

2 days then, most of the layout elements will all ready be there, lets not forget my experience of designing and producing mock ups is different to yours and everyone else here no one is going to be the same but id say 2-3 days tops.

I'm sure this is too obvious to ask but how long do you need?

Well I don't know !! I spent months on my own website front page because I wanted to feel 100% satisfactory of it. I can probably do a decent job in 2 days but for sure there won't be much room for research .. 4 days would make me feel more comfortable for sure.

In 2 days I won't be able to deliver the quality level that I like to deliver, that's my point. Now perhaps the client is happy with a lower quality level, it's hard to know as this sort of thing cannot be quantified !

Well I guess considering the time zone (different locations) a mock up should not take more than a day..

well say 4 days to them then. To them that's elapsed time, to you it's actual.

1 day will be enough for me personally (I'll complete it time of some hours with some little breaks for inspiration). But you never know what might happen so better ask for 2 days.

I'm sure this is too obvious to ask but how long do you need?

We have no idea how good a designer you are or how good with the tools you are.

How long does it normally take you and then add a bit for contingency sake.
