Thinking of changing focus
Not to start a war now: 1. If your getting development work then id say you have already switched direction and worrying about ranking isnt an issue unless a- your not getting development work b- your not getting much work - if this is a case promotion is in order i couldnt even get a decent coder now i have a guy from serbia working full time for me c- work quality is poor cuasing the designers not to use you again 2. IF your prices are what you say they are then Chris to be honest 1200-1600 IS far too much to be targeting a local area such as Bridgend simple market research would tell you that I mean if a valleys company comes to me and they know im in cardiff then they expect the price, but if i go after a valleys firm then i adjust my prices to suit the area. 3. Your site is OK but unless your getting work within either a niche or the web design industry id change it to conform with what the local agency, designer, coder, company or what ever you want to protray your self as does. There is loads of work around here I've billed a fair bit to bridgend recently and I dont even rank that high for that search term...

Worst Open-Source CMS?
I think everyone has a different understanding of what i class as SIMPLE here.

Worst Open-Source CMS?
No thats not the point I'm making either, I never said anything like that. I'm simply saying I have issues with people using wordpress for a basic cms site and then charge 1200 to implement it.

Worst Open-Source CMS?
I have a problem with most people who use themes full stop and charge anything more than the price of the theme and pass it off as their own work
-
Worst Open-Source CMS?
So your going to charge £1200 for a simple CMS no frills text editior I'm talking for what in essence all you do is create a theme? As the back end is there for you. I know my pricing can be considered 'high' but id never dream charging that much for something thats already put together and i dont charge per hour to my clients anyway ive never gotten away with it

Worst Open-Source CMS?
I remember when wordpress was a blog and then someone said i know we can make this a cms, then one day it become a shop and now some crazy things like social network platforms a way for estate agents to sell homes and other jazz. It has its merit when used correctly and I know plenty of people make money from using themes. Its just I think and this is my view! That the industry would be better off people didnt use it so much for client work when its simply not needed. Or charging £1200+ for a wordpress site that is a no frills cms...

EU Cookie Law Sucks - But Good News
Ok loads more research and some things pointed out to me after discussing on another forum I have created this post : http://www.pandadoodle.com/blog/eu-cookie-law-script-guide-lines/ Now if you read the ICCs PDF its all clear and easy to understand compare that to the ICOs PDF and email / phone calls and its a total nightmare.

New Site
Funny enough I've removed the buttons and trying something else, I didnt like them There will be a fiar bit going on under the hood of the design to make up for how simple it is, I was going to add some extra images and details but its taken away from what I have now. A small navigation is something I'm struggling with but I hope to get that finished today along with fixing the bits you mentioned above.

New Site
So seems I've posted a bit on here recently I thought id share my new folio site (being built) this is just a screen of it. The actual map will work so I can update my location things left to do is design a fake app screen for that iphone, something I hope to finish today Come 6pm The map turns off and a still loads A Panda sitting on a sofa drinking beer / pepsi 9pm The Panda goes to sleep 1am The panda gets some loving... 1:05am The panda goes back to sleep 6am Panda showering 630am The map turns back on again Its going to be a simple full screen site, big in your face portfolio and then the entire site content will be handled by my blog so rather than a static bit of content I'll just write about design services all the time rather than ass around with trying to come up with content for it. Its a large image so here you go new design I am aware the whole holding a phone thing has been done before but thats mainly showing off an app this is something a little bit different

Sorry Mike your wrong...................................there is no handling of organic traffic at google. The only organic traffic there is if and when a pig flys over the office- EU Cookie Law Sucks - But Good News

I bet all this came about as some top person had a bad experiance with as a child and now sees all cookies as evil- EU Cookie Law Sucks - But Good News
Ecommerce stores you need 1st level acceptance if your tracking (google stats etc) but if no stats is used and your storing a way to remember a user other than cookies. You dont need consent providing that cookie is only used for the basket and ensures the customer ends up paying for what they ordered. Thats one of the few times opt in is not required. The script will change a little as reading the new pdf guidliens i got emailed this morning the user MUST be able to opt out at anytime where as before that option was not required. But if they choose to opt out you need to tell them what can happen and how to remove the cookies :sigh:- EU Cookie Law Sucks - But Good News
nice mike, I came up with the flat trailing banner so it could stick on anything and of course be adjusted to fit any site you wanted See my post above about the ICO they cant even tell me what is and isnt, it conflicts with the post that was placed on wired yesterday. It is STUPDO In terms of people doing it main stream stores I've not seen any action apart from something on BT but now i dont even see that message (and yes i have cleared the cookies to check)- EU Cookie Law Sucks - But Good News
Yup even the ICO said to me this morning that its down to you how you interpret that rule. Might be a bit of a fuss over nothing but thats how the PCI and all that started out also... Id rather have something in place thats not needed and be removed than get caught out. The ICO is unable to advise whether the cookie you refer to is ‘strictly necessary’, as each organisation must arrive at their own policies on ensuring their compliance based on their own detailed knowledge of their own business and the cookies they use. The above was refrance to 3rd party use and affiliate marketing- EU Cookie Law Sucks - But Good News

Well its up on github you can download and do as you like to it If I was some coding guru i could answer your question first time around Mike and give you a soloution (if one is required) but sadly i is not! If you do download and modify there are some changes coming out in the next few days so i can either post here or you can get alerted via the hub- EU Cookie Law Sucks - But Good News
