  1. 1. Delete your cache? It's possibly serving up the icon from memory. 2. You might want to try using both of the possible link tags (the web is such a sucker for standardisation) <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon" /> or... <link rel="icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon" />
  2. Remember: Anything that is floated either to the left or the right must be "cleared" by a clearing divider before any content can appear directly beneath it. This includes the end of the .container divider - it wont expand because the float inside it hasn't been cleared.
  3. Hey Russell, sorry I haven't had a chance to come online today. As your #column divider is also being floated to the left, it must have a clear div beneath it before the closing tag for #column. So it would be: <div class="container"> <div id="column">...</div> <div class="clear"> </div> </div>
  4. Legend has it that StatCounter is also very good.
  5. Just open the file you have created in notepad++ in a browser.
  6. This might explain the clear property a bit better.
  7. No because then .right would appear beneath .left. Using clear: both; instructs the divider to "get out of the way" so to speak of all dividers that are floated above it. Therefore, as .left is being floated, it will appear beneath it as .right would be "clearing" the space both to the left and right of it (and .left appears on it's left).
  8. Within your .tophalf and .bottomhalf, you have dividers that are being floated (.left and .right). You will need to clear these floats before content will appear beneath them. Just put "<div class="clear"> </div>" after the .left and .right dividers. Then add the following css: .clear { clear: both; height: 0; overflow: hidden; width: 0; } Note: The is required as W3 specifies that dividers cannot be left empty. So for example, the .topleft divider would be: <div id="tophalf"> <div class="left">...</div> <div class="right">...</div> <div class="clear"> </div> </div> ...And the same for "bottomhalf". Regards, Dan P.S. You can then delete the "height" attributes and the dividers will expand properly.
  9. Some more information on the problem would probably be helpful. What exactly is the problem, "it doesn't work" doesn't really give us a good idea of what's happening without an example. If the page is live, could you provide us a link as we don't know the size of "photo.png" which could be helpful. Try adding a DOCTYPE at the top of your document e.g. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> The background position on line 14 should be (the top and left were the wrong way around): background: #000000 url(bg.png) top left no-repeat; Try changing the background position on line 8 to: background-position: right !important; I have no idea if this will work as we don't have an example to play with. Good luck, Dan
  10. You will need some sort of solid background for text to be placed upon otherwise it becomes difficult to read. But yeah I would definately checkout the EVE website and see the kind of things they have done regarding navigation elements etc. You say your design feels like something is missing but that's because it's just a background Add some elements and you'll see what I mean.
  11. I agree, always get quote before you begin! What if they now say that their budget is about £50 and you've spent hours upon hours developing their site
  12. A really great place to get logo inspiration from is Logo Pond. If you take a browse through those, you will notice that each says something about the company rather than just stating the name and most result in a really good impact on the viewer. Over at Spoon Graphics, Chris Spooner talks about his thought processes when designing a logo. Might be worth a look. Dan
  13. I downloaded the software to take a look at it for you. It doesn't seem very well constructed but I guess that it does what you want it for. Before running the script, you will have to run an "SQL Command" on your MySQL database. You can use phpMyAdmin or something similar to do this. I'm not sure how familiar you are with databases but you will have to click the tab marked "SQL" and paste the contents of database-structure.mysql.php3 into it. This will create the relevant tables and structures required by the software. You will then need to go through config.inc.php3 changing the values that you need changing for example the "poll_title" variable, your database access information and your host. Then upload all the files to your server and it should run. I'm not sure how it works from there though as I didn't develop it. I'll leave it up to you to work out Regards, Dan P.S. Ben is right. If you haven't any experience with PHP and MySQL, the chances are that you're going to find it pretty difficult to get running the way you want it to. But as he says, we're all here to help
  14. This might be of some help to you. It looks to me that your installation is setup to authorise using the config file which doesn't have your password set properly. ("Password: NO" means that it's trying to use a blank password for access). Follow the tutorial in that link to change the authorisation method to "cookie" before logging in as "root" and whatever password you set during installation. Hope this helps, Dan
  15. A pretty simple tutorial for mod_rewrite can be found at http://www.htmlist.com/how-to/a-simplemod_rewrite-tutorial/
  16. No problem, other users might come up with a better plan. As it's a pretty quick job, I could do it for about £100 but bear in mind seasoned developers will charge alot more. I'm assuming you don't need comments on the blog? Wait out though because there might be an out of the box solution that someone knows.
  17. I think you're best bet would be to actually get a custom made blog for the sites. Most blog applications such as Wordpress assume that you need control over the entire site and can be extremely fiddly to get working properly within a pre-existing site. Many are also way over complicated for what you're looking for. There are probably "out of the box" solutions available on the internet for what you're looking for but I can't think of any off the top of my head. Perhaps another user could help you out with than one. Alternatively, you could ask a developer (there are many here including myself) to create you one but most will ask for a small fee for their time. Regards, Dan
  18. Could you give us a link to the websites that need changing? It would help for us to know how your websites are setup. Oh and no worries about the questions, that's what this forum was made for
  19. If you make a post and then manage to fix it, it's better to leave your original post and just post a new message saying that you've fixed it. This way, other users experiencing the same problem can find out how to fix it
  20. You don't need to remove the link, just let us know it's fixed
  21. Just give it a Google Search. This one seems promising.
  22. I'm assuming you've fixed it. I can't see a problem with the link.
  23. A bit more information would probably be helpful. Does it allow you to "open directory" and list the relevant files. How far does the script go before it stops working? This will narrow down the search for errors in your script. I have already noticed a few things that may be causing you problems for example the initial declaration of $path in delete2.php. It should be $path = $_POST['list'] as you are accessing a POST variable from the previous form. Dan
