I'm a bit of an obsessive compulsive when it comes to tidy uniform code; being this person I went on a journey through the blogs on the subject, I finally came up with this stylesheet; http://www.aaronbrand.co.uk/draft/aaronbra...signs/style.css for the sake of it I made a simple html page to work from too (this uses the above stylesheet) I suggest you view the source: http://www.aaronbrand.co.uk/draft/aaronbrand/otherdesigns/ I find working from this saves me a lot of time. I also included some of the common DIVs and attributes you find in your everyday stylesheet. There isn't a great deal to explain 1ST is your primary content 2nd is secondary (I indented all secondary content to illustrate). For larger stylesheet I sometimes add a table of contents to the top and use this to find classes. I have also put the longest strings at the top with the smallest at the bottom, but this isn't the best way of doing things some attributes are better next to each other (e.g Height & Width), I just find it easier on the eyes . I have used this on a few projects and it saves me heaps of time, I know its not going to suite every website but the organisation should suite any site. I thought I'd share it, some of you may find it of some use.

I've always wondered what the difference is nice to have an awnser, Kapi I used transitional is it a mix of html & xhtml? maybe I should start using Strict.

Thank you Iris I'll take those comments on board, This was the first site I built using a template I developed to keep my CSS & HTML tidy, I having untidy code would add hours onto the process.

Great idea on the background! sure that will add the depth it needs. with the studio photography I did a banner without It, depends on what my friend would prefer if he wants the studio their I will look into it. I think every site I put up for critique people tell me to add more line-height . Thanks for your input I appreciate it.

Yeah the navigation is a bit overwhelming. It doesn't seem to suit the iphone but as you said the client isn't looking for this.. (customer is not always right! )

Totally agree, I really like the design though defiantly my style simple and clean.

Great looking site I love the header and footer images, However I don't think the flowers to the bottom right don't fit with the rest of the design. They stand out too much compared to everything else to me. overall great stuff

Quite impressed with this I completed it within 3 hours from concept to code. http://www.aaronbrand.co.uk//draft/sycamor...camorestudios0/ needs a better background, I would like to but the footer at the bottom of the page, need to look at the "current project bit" that could be far better, also the boarders of the entire page need some work. But what do you guys think?

I know i need to tidy it up a bit, I have them in the html because if the form has errors or a user hasn't filled in all the info i want them to post on the same page. is there a way to do this if using php from its own file? I put all the code in to demonstrate that there are two forms on one page, they both work fine on there own. PEA i tried changing the function names but it still doesn't work, I need to get myself a php debugger.

thanks for the suggestions, I understand your ideas I felt the same way I did build a website based on the landing page but the client insisted the hostel sites were designed as they are I tried to deviate a little but was told to use specific colors, Its a shame because with a brand like hairy lemon I could have really taken the site somewhere! peter I will certainly take your advice and see what I can do with the word presentation.

The requirement of this one were pretty specific; I had a little more scope to get the juices flowing. so what do you think: http://www.aaronbrand.co.uk/draft/hairylemon/hairylemon4/ - I need to make "hairy lemon hostels" stand out far more. (a logo hasn't been finalized yet) - The scale of the objects annoys me.

love it, i like how the bottom divs don't align in straight line, I'm defiantly into the Grey with one bright colour scheme too. (experimenting with it for my first portfolio site)

I think this is probably pretty much obvious. Basicaly I have a page where there is a php form on every page. (there is probs a much better way of doing this...) and I was under the impression that to post errors on the same page & a thank you message the easiest way of doing it is using PHP SELF. However now i have realized that on the "contact" page i will need another form that i would like to use the same technique.. I assume you can't use PHP SELF twice on one page? Page that might help you visualize what i'm trying to do: example

I'm with One if you go though Quidco it works out 50p per year I have been with them for about 5 months now not had a problem.

Surely a liquid layout always would be better? what are the downsides?

Thats looking far better than the original design, why not spice up the navigation link a bit possibly position then directly to the right of the first aid cross?

I love it especially the navigation. I do think the green doesn't work and it think you could try and make the sections less huge.
