thanks yeah I did want to keep all the colors consistent but the templates I used didn't offer much in the form of customization. I don't even have access to the CSS pages. (it was excellent the trip that has made me realize that web design is for me..) the short story being a woman in a hostel asked me to design her site for her and that she was more than confident in me to produce something she would be happy with

I have been curious what the going rate is for a 5-10 page website I email a few web designers through there sites. with a website including a photo gallery varying from 299 to 1035? quite a difference. so what is the going rate for an average designer with a simple CSS, HTML based website?

I have been considering something similar. I can't see you needing a great deal of cash you've got your computer and i assume some software. Although there are defiantly going to be extra costs. Banks & the UK governments love new uk business you could try applying for a grant or possibly a business account. Best advice would be get in touch with someone like businesslink as i'm not as clued up as i should be

Designed for all of 15 people. blog is template so is photo gallery. was my first site without tables quite pleased with the code. originally the green was just one green and I think it should have stayed that way and on some resolutions the Grey content box doesn't overlap the green.. it should it looks much better when the grey box overlaps the green by about 40pxs. one thing i could never fix was the footer when re sized the copyright info would overlap everything. http://europe.aaronbrand.co.uk Constructive criticism always welcome.

Not bad red & grey are always good just one thing i'd have to say is remove the underlines from the navigation links

Not a fan of flash sites, but this one looks great easy to use maybe you could add another t-shirt animation to mix it up a little.

I am in the middle of designing a few websites for friends and thought It couldn't hurt to have an online portfolio. I usually design something in photoshop first and then try to implement it in CSS & HTML. I don't particularly like what i have come up with here its too corporate and well a bit stale. But i was curious how i would implement some aspects especially the navigation ( 1. The only way i think to do this is with hotspots? but i always thought they wernt the cleanest method. Would it just be better to not use them at all? 2. The top and bottom border i can assume be done with border-top: 1px; border-bottom: 1px; within a div however I was considering having the lines stretch all the way to the edge of the screen (which thinking about it may look stupid on a high res screen) could this be done with putting the content in another dive and having a much lenghty div? 3. The little curved box would have to be an image in a div wouldn't it? on another note the use of drop shadow.. I normally stay well away from effects on images. I quite like it on the navigation menu not sure about anywhere else. so comment critiques great appreciated.. I am here to learn after all. in regards to my poor use of english.. I'm sorry

never liked flash sites, they can be quite cool but it's all a novelty

I'm liking the graphic but as most have said had to get a good idea of where your going with it. in regards to the horizontal scrolling I quite like it, i supposes its more natural to read left to right rather than long columns, and with eCenica link I'm starting to think they are even better.

I love that idea, i'd have so much extra time on my hands I always seem to lose one shoe. and in regards to the topic question i'll have to have a think and come back to it.

Hello Everyone. I Joined this site as in the past months i have been approached by many family & friends if i could design them a website for there business. I'm defiantly in the infancy of web design, although I do have a basic grasp of CSS & HTML. I have been designing websites since I was 14. Now I am 20 without any real idea of what I want to do, So I came to the logical choice of pursuing a career in something i love, Web & Graphics Design. Joining this forum seemed like an excellent idea to learn enough to possibly start my own business and get some extra experience.
