Which Joomla Extension?
Out of all the Joomla extensions which would help me best to solve these problems? 1) A Conference centre wants to have an 'Event registration form'. Once a client has booked an event the delegates are given a code/password and can 'sign in' online and the Conference Centre will have their details captured. 2) A 'comments form' so that the delegates can leave feedback but the Conference Centre can moderate. Any advice to point me through the humungous number of possibly suitable Joomla extensions would be grand!

Pointing a website & SE)
Thanks - I have got a fair number of pages in the old site - should I 301 all of them to the new site. Should we add locations in titles and description to help in local searches - or should we have a special page on the new site for the old location that the 301 directs searches locally to?

Pointing a website & SE)
I've built a website for the company I used to work for and spent some time getting the SEO as good as I could and moved from page 50 in Google to page 1 for lots of search terms. The company has been bought by another based about 120 miles away and they want to point the old www to the new www. Trouble is I think that this means that in the old area (where there is still a sales office) anyone searching for what the company does is not going to find the local office. Am I right? From what I can see the SEO on the new website doesn't mention our local area at all in the keywords or description....unless Google have changed all their parameters. Is the old company going to lose out over this? Am I right to be concerned?

Switching to Mac - Well maybe!
I have Macs that are years old and still work. In fact my G5 is at least 5 years old and is my main machine. Been running PCs and Macs since 1988 (I think) and have chucked out lots of PCs cos they have failed but have never had a Mac fail. Having said that PCs are getting much better - but Macs still have the edge - screens are fabuluous. . . if you can buy one!

Thanks but have I explained myself. . . ? Columns left and right will just have pictures in them. The centre column will have all the text - therefore for SEO and search purposes I want the text (the middle column) to be first in the html.. <div id="center"> Blah blah </div> <div id="left"> pictures </div> <div id="right"> pictures </div> Will what you have given me work? cheers Kate

Mac Mini
I have one at home - bought about 3 years ago. Compared to my old G5 at work it's slow but the new ones would be fine I imagine. Or go for an iMac even less desk space. . . much nicer than a PC!!

Has anyone ever used a CRM?
I may be thick but I though CRM was 'Customer Relationship Management' ie a programme that organises your client database for sales and marketing purposes. ACT! is the best one I know for this. . . (google Act! consultants) CMS (content management system) is where your client can change the pages on his website himself without going through the website designer/developer and then you should look at Joomla, MODx, etc Kate

Help with choosing CMS
I have a couple of customers who are asking for CMS websites. One in particular wants to be able to update content and also run an ecommerce site and capture emails (though if customers are buying from him he will get emails anyway presumably). I am newish to website development/design (am learning XHTML & CSS) what's going to be best for me and my clients? I'm not keen on giving ftp info away (as with Cushy). . . Help!
