Pointing a website & SE)

Featured Replies

I've built a website for the company I used to work for and spent some time getting the SEO as good as I could and moved from page 50 in Google to page 1 for lots of search terms. The company has been bought by another based about 120 miles away and they want to point the old www to the new www.

Trouble is I think that this means that in the old area (where there is still a sales office) anyone searching for what the company does is not going to find the local office. Am I right? From what I can see the SEO on the new website doesn't mention our local area at all in the keywords or description....unless Google have changed all their parameters.

Is the old company going to lose out over this? Am I right to be concerned?

Thanks - I have got a fair number of pages in the old site - should I 301 all of them to the new site. Should we add locations in titles and description to help in local searches - or should we have a special page on the new site for the old location that the 301 directs searches locally to?
