Out of all the Joomla extensions which would help me best to solve these problems?

 

1) A Conference centre wants to have an 'Event registration form'. Once a client has booked an event the delegates are given a code/password and can 'sign in' online and the Conference Centre will have their details captured.

2) A 'comments form' so that the delegates can leave feedback but the Conference Centre can moderate.

 

Any advice to point me through the humungous number of possibly suitable Joomla extensions would be grand!

Not sure if either of these will be perfect for what you're after, but we use DT Register for events and ticketing. It's pretty powerful, but (like a lot of Joomla components) horrid to configure and lacking in some fairly necessary features.

 

For commenting, maybe K2? Commenting is built in to the component.

 

I might be able to help you with some more info if you can expand on exactly what you're trying to achieve.
