  1. I also think a good addition would be a business relationship/development manager, someone that has strong communication and sales skills that can go out and network, build relationships with prospects and can sell your services.

  8. I personally feel that if the main menu is large and you're trying to create a minimalistic or responsive design the Hamburger is ideal. Lets face it - one click to view the menu is not too unfriendly. You should however make the icon clear if you do use it and ensure that the user knows it is a button/clickable.
  9. Hey I have been updating my company website. We provide urban (mainly hip hop based) entertainment and team building activities. I've tried to show what the company is all about - urban. The colours/textures etc were inspired by an image of the streets of New York (where hip hop originated) at night so it's quite dark but i'm hoping the images give it some life and colour! Anyway please could you provide me with some feedback for improvement. URL - http://www.urbanedge-promotions.com/ Thanks.

  12. Do you not think if someone posts something on your forum and then realises they should not have posted it and would like it to be deleted you should really do so out of good will? Especially if the thread is showing on Google! If they are an active user and request this although you are not obligated, surely it is the right thing to do. Without the users you have no forum so being understanding and sensitive towards their requests is important in my opinion. ... just saying
  13. I think there are some elements on the site that are good. Yeah, you should make it responsive/mobile friendly but you will be doing this in time anyway like you said. I particularly like the feel and look of the navigation. There is fair bit of wasted space on the right of the main content and this could be used to give the content more 'breathing space'. I like the portfolio of work page as the images make it more visually pleasing and it works well. Maybe more of the other pages should have images just to give it that creative edge and make it more visually exciting too. With a bit more work adding images in the content, utilising the space on the right of the screen and making it mobile friendly, I think you would have a good site that reflects what you are about as a developer.
  14.    danieljoseph reacted to a post in a topic: How much should I charge for this?...
  15. Okay, i'll go with £500. I think it would be unfair to charge him per hour as i was learning alot as i went along and this took up time that he shouldn't have to pay for i guess! Thanks for all your advice on this.

  17. Thanks BlueDreamer... I got to admit I didn't keep track of my hours at all as I was initially not going to charge anything. I'm not an experienced developer so would £1000 be about right for this? I don't want to rip him off but at the same time i don't wanna undercut myself! is that about right? Thanks,
  18. Hi, I have been creating a website for a family friend who has just retired and started a consultancy business. I have really enjoyed learning new skills whilst developing the website and feel that it is nearly complete (just need to fix a few last minute issues). I was originally going to do it for free just to develop my web dev skills but he has now said that he would like to pay me the national/standard rate for the site which is great as I did end up spending alot of time on it tweaking bits and adding new features etc! My question is how much should I charge him for the site? Here is a brief on what it includes: - Responsive Website - Search Feature - Print Friendly - CMS - Basic Image Slider - 13 Pages URL: http://www.paulcrookconsultancy.com Thanks for your help.

  20. hmmm... i don't think i could give you a decent answer to that! What are the options and what are their differences? I guess i'm looking for something that that will process card payments - visa, mastercard etc and paypal. Something where i can customise all the pages to keep it in theme with the site. I want to design the site on Dreamweaver from scratch and then add the cart features - not sure if that helps or not! What are the best all rounders in your opinion?
  21. Hi I would like to know which e-commece platforms are ideal for designers? I have experience in CSS and HTML and would like to add some basic JQuery to the site. I would like to have as much control as possible over the design of the site. Ideally i would like to make a responsive site using Dreamweaver CS5 and just use the platform for the cart etc. Let me know if you need any further info. Your help is really appreciated.
  22. Thanks for taking time out to advise. This is really helpful. I see what you're saying. Now the site is done we can focus on social networking to build relationships with other entertainers, event photographers, catering services or other workshop facilitators. Will add some sort of social network integration to the site too. Thanks again - it's much appreciated.
  23.    danieljoseph reacted to a post in a topic: what do you think of this?
  24. I hear your point. Our clients range from corporate/events companies and the general public (for entertainment) to schools and youth centres (for workshops). As it's quite diverse (etc corporate and then schools) I decided to create something that represented us and what we are about rather then basing the site on one of the target audiences as if i did this, I feel I would be missing the other targets! I think i could emphasis more on the fact that we are CRB/DBS checked and have PLI in place. Maybe with some logos. You're right about the contact details. I might take out the news feed and replace it with the contact details such as a mob number and an email link. Some good points raised - thanks Climber.
  25. Thanks! That means a lot coming from a Guru.
