Portfolio Redesign

Featured Replies

I usually come out with a redesign quite often, although I've got a lot ahead of me with returning to education.

That said, this should be the last major change to my site for a while and looking for some critique before signing it off and start to build on top of this current design.

You can find it at http://www.pixelcoder.co.uk/

Thank you for taking the time to view.

Oh.. That's a pet hate of mine. Viewing this on a smartphone and I got blocked from viewing the site. This just gives off the impression of being lazy, in all honesty.

I understand you may not be lazy or you are adding a smaller version soon but to blocked out isn't too great from the users POV.

The worse pratace ever, "Access to Pixel Coder is currently restricted to those with devices which support a minimum width resolution of 1024." Probably even worse than a message saying "this website is optimised and best viewed on X browser" I would seriously rethink and really quick.

Should just allow mobile view anyway then optimise it later. Rather see a site that looks not as good as it could do on a handheld device than absolutely nothing.

Suppose if anything can redirect to a page that says "mobile site coming soon" ?

I don't spend much time designing graphics any more and felt it was important to leave that element out @cherrydesigns.

Whlst it's "fine" its just missing something and i cant put my finger on it

I think there are some elements on the site that are good. Yeah, you should make it responsive/mobile friendly but you will be doing this in time anyway like you said.

I particularly like the feel and look of the navigation. There is fair bit of wasted space on the right of the main content and this could be used to give the content more 'breathing space'.

I like the portfolio of work page as the images make it more visually pleasing and it works well. Maybe more of the other pages should have images just to give it that creative edge and make it more visually exciting too.

With a bit more work adding images in the content, utilising the space on the right of the screen and making it mobile friendly, I think you would have a good site that reflects what you are about as a developer.
