  1. i would charge around £500-£700 for a CMS site with custom design. depending on what the customer wants and what you need to do, will they give you the content and images or do you need to create it all your self
  2. What's your budget? What you decided on so far?
  3. Hope all goes well, but as said without knowing whats go on here it's hard to say. I've seen this first hand with a friend i worked with years ago, we just sent them a nice letter explaining SEO was not included in the agreement (no contract) wihich they agreed we didn't agree on a SEO action plan. So SEO was down to them as was content updating after the hand over (final payment). They nenver contacted us again, and the website is still what we designed lol. I would say as long as the site is designed with all the standards and it validates then you've done your job if SEO was never agreed on.
  4. Use SyncToy by microsoft and just backup the folders i need.
  5. Only used to do this if i was going to dual boot. Now a days as hard drives are so cheap i have the following, 1x 320GB - Windows Vista 1x 320GB - Other OS (Dual boot but using 2 hard drives) - this will be Linux or VMware stuff etc the i have a Promise RAID card with 4x 500GB in Raid5 for all my music, data, films etc. I also have a 320GB SATA in a external case to backup my data, like docments, sage, work stuff.
  6. Dam better pack my bags.
  7. when i get an hour or two i'll be trying it, but at the moment 90% of my work is done on CMS systems now so don't really need it.

  10. you could setup an special email address these querys come to and then have a autoresponder that will bounce a email with the pdf back. put i'm sure there should be a way of doing it with PHP
  11. I've tried it with CMS Made simple and using the cataloger module but found it rubbish as the notes don't show up and the items only show in alaphbetical order not the order i put them in. I tried joomla but found it over whelming and it looks more like a portal CMS where there loads of info and stuff. What i want to create is seen here cars.neil-harding.co.uk it still under development due to me trying to create a simple way for the client to add cars to the site. Was thinking of doing my own SQL query and admin site to the CMS but would like it all under one roof so to speak
  12. Any recommendations for a CMS system for a site that will be selling cars? They also do recovery and delivey jobs so need to add normal pages hence the CMS system. Cheers p.s. i will be trying joomla but having trouble getting it installed.
  13. i have told them that it depends on the users browser and toolbars so there's no 100% size, but i will try and keep it to a minimum. Just waiting for the deposit before starting work
  14. I'm just about to get confirmation on some work for a website but they have ask to make it so there is no horizontal or vertical scolling. So what size should i make my container div? 900x600???
  15. Does it matter, who really runs the country the man in the seat? or the people around him pulling the strings? As long as the new pres can talk to the people and not look like they have got a IQ of a school kid its a winner
  16. sorry for the silly question but whats AA?
  17. No this is the 4th house i'm living in, and the Xbox sits on the floor with nothing around it.
  18. i'm not keen on it, not sure why. Just don't like the way the letters flash and the menu spears of them as they seem dull until the mouse is moved over them but thats my thoughts
  19. Windows for me as i do play with VB so use Visual Studio now and again. I have tried Linux but just don't like it's none user friendly interface for installing programs, i.e. install a program and no icon is installed to you have to run the program from an unknown location.

  22. Well my target are the ones that can't afford the £700/day but need quality work.
  23. I need some help thinking up a business name in which to trade from. I'm going to be a IT company offering the following services:- IT Consultant (Business, building networks, servers installs, advice like on how to use Exchange and other software) VoIP (mainly TrixBox solutions) Some custom PCs (High spec workstations and High end Gamer PCs, as Dell, HP Are cheap enough for office work) Repairs and upgrades CCTV etc etc etc Also a bit of Webdesign for the quiet days and filler jobs. How am i going to stand out from the crowd? well mainly from being open with the clients and talking simple terms and also not ripping them off like some company's do. Like charging £400+ a day to give simple advice for 3-4 hrs, my charges are going to be in the range of £150-250. I have worked for company's for 10years now and have seen company's charge upto £750 just to tell us the way we are doing our backups is fine lol. But for the love of me i can't think of a name to trade as, i did think of just using my name Neil Harding or something like Neil-Harding.co.uk, or NH IT, but just don't seem to cut it. Or do they? I do like the idea of just Neil-Harding.co.uk. Any Ideas or suggestions?
