As you might have read in some of my other posts, I've been working with a local college. The current website (a year old) was built on Joomla 1.5 and contains around 150 pages (articles). Anyway, they've been getting hassled with regards to the AA compliance despite it actually being valid XHTML and CSS - the board are never happy!

 

Anyway - are there any other good CMS out there which could be used to create a large website for a college? I think they might be able to push for some money so not only open-source ones. It's just like any other website, it's got pages for all academies and email contact forms for each one. There is a news/events page that's updated regularly but the most important thing is that it ticks all of the accessibility boxes (valid XHTML, CSS and AA). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, someone mentioned one called Jadu but they quoted £30,000 - haha I don't think so! There's a good level of Web Design knowledge here so it doesn't have to be one of these ones that does so much the user loses control, if you know what I mean.

I'll say it again - Expression Engine - it gives you complete control over everything so achieving (and maintaining) level AA is far easier than a lot of other CMS's

sorry for the silly question but whats AA?

It's a level of conformance used by the Web Accessibility Initiative - http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/

 

In short it attempts to make web documents accessible to people using assistive browsing technologies such as screenreaders.
