  1. It's a bit too skinny (thin) for my liking and I'm not overkeen on the colours. There are better templates you can use. People will need to read this remember, so the less strain on the eyes the better...
  2. Read up on JQuery ... You can add some great effects to your website. Flash is also an option. You can of course place some forums, a blog, chat for interaction ... The World is your oyster.
  3. Not a great deal to comment on with this one, but yeah, it's got the makings of something nice. I like it so far.
  4. I'm a big fan of this one ... Very nice use of colours ... Nice graphics... A big well done from me!
  5. Yeah I like it.... It's a little too Adobe/Apple, but it's nice, clean and pleasing on the eye ... A couple of images on there I'd optimise ... One being the monitors.png, which stands at 72kB and saleslines.png which stands at 52k ... I think you could reduce these significantly just by having them as well optimised Jpg's ... But other than that, well done ... Oh, one last thing... The footer, not so keen on that ... I think it's the mixture of fonts, styles and colours that's putting me off ...
  6. I'm in agreement ... I think the graphic is too small or Overdrive is to large ... There's definitely someothing amiss ... I like the concept though.
  7. An experienced web designer in London should be commanding no less than 30k ... The going rate is around £35k ... For the job you're going for, even at entry level I'd be expecting £20k .. The way I figure it, if I can drive a truck for £18k (and that's outside of London), then shouldn't I be worth more being skilled? Sorry, I wouldn't open my eyes in the morning for under £20k ... I'd rather go work at Tesco, lol...
  8. No you don't, but I generally like to have full control over my elements ... In case I want to mess around with them in the future.... Supposing I wanted to have a bigger margin from 1-2 than from 2-3 or offset the centre image for whatever reason and so forth ... This way I can do that with a swift change.
  9. Check out google adwords. There you can see what keywords are being searched for ... Of course, if you're a local business, and you're targetting just the locals, then you're probably close to being on the right track.
  10. My best SEO tool is my brain, but unfortunately that's not open source ;o)
  11. Can't say I have, but it looks a bit suspect for me. I think I'd prefer to write my articles manually.
  12. Only if people make spelling mistakes ... I don't think microsoft would have a problem with micro-soft ... if they were that bothered about it they'd have bought it...
  13. Good tips. Plenty more tips but these are good for the begineer.
  14. You have actually submitted your site to Google right? I know, I know, but you'd be surprised how many forget that part, lol. Google generally crawls a new site on a weekly basis ... To start with, your SEO will takes weeks, because every change you make you'll not see for a week or so ... SEO is a loooooooooong process I'm afraid ... As your site gets bigger with regular frsh content, then you'll see your site crawled more regularly.
