Hey everyone!

I've attached a JPEG of my company's (Overdrive Web & Graphic Design) new branding/logo concept. I would love if you all could give us some feedback and constructive criticism.

We're currently working on updating (greatly) our portfolio, creating our new website, new business cards. myspace, etc. If you have any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions, please let us know.

Thank you all very very much!

Logan

I really like it, very sleek and professional. Only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the serif font for your strapline.

Very nice, but I agree with above, the strapline font doesn't really fit in.

Thanks Tom & Keywolf. Do you have any suggestions as for another font?

To me the actual logo images proptions just don't seem right??

I'm in agreement ... I think the graphic is too small or Overdrive is to large ...

There's definitely someothing amiss ...

I like the concept though.

How do you feel it's disproportioned lee grant? Like, too wide, too thin, or what?

Do you all think the ampersand in the second version works well?

  • Author

It's nice but it does not make me think of web design.

Charlotte

I'm not sure that we were really aiming to make it link to Web Design, just something to brand ourselves professionally and uniquely. If you have any ideas as to how to link it to web design, definitely let me know though please.

Thank you!

Maybe reduce the side of 'overdrive' and increase the size of 'web and graphic design' but then, it is a graphic.

I can't wait to see the site.

I've considered that, and actually tried it, but we're also branching out into flash/action/interactive media/photography etc. So we've been trying to just focus mainly on us being "Overdrive". Thanks for your feedback so much though.

I'll be posting a new topic for feedback on our website as we get further. I'll definitely let you know when we do that!

I think it looks great just as it is. It's nice and simple, and the second font is way better than the first (which looked very off). One thing about logos, you don't want to over-do them. ;)

Nice logo, Mason and Logan.

In OVERDRIVE - move letter O to right (close to V).

What if you move the logo from the top position to the left of the text?

Hi Lev

I am fine with SEO and coding etc but would love some nice easy hints and tips about design, is there anywhere on the net that provides this - I don't want stuff that is how to do things in PS I want simple design guidelines and principles if you know what I mean - a beginners guide, thanks

Hi Gill.

One of the greatest sourses on this topic is Yale Web Style Guide, whose benefit for a beginner can not be overemphasized.

Also, a huge of very useful stuff you can find in SmashingMagazine, for instance, here.

You are a star Lev, thanks very much.

I fear it will be another very late night again tonight!!

The background circle doesn't quite look like a circle - is it a letter 'O'? I would like the flame to either fit inside the circle perfectly or jut out more - one or the other. At the the moment it kinda looks like its accidentally overlapping it because you don't notice at first. Looks nice though :)

Gill, take care to not overwork youself:).

I like it, although I'm not sure the circle image looks right coming out of the flame. I would try having a complete circle and having a slight drop shadow from the flame onto the circle defining the two shapes.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback from everyone! So much.

I'm going to try out a lot of these ideas and post them up to see what you all think.

Thanks again everyone.

I'll have updates soon.

(P.S. Gill, I'd also suggest checking out Web Designer Depot and Go Mediazine)

Alright, here is an update trying out some of your ideas. (If I understood them all correctly.)

[1] Original Version (w/Second Strapline Font)

[2] Lev's Idea - Repositioning (Also with redoing proportions)

Logo%20Presentation%20(Lev).jpg

[3] Mrchristoph's Idea - Flame inside circle (Not sure if I understood this correctly though)

Logo%20Presentation%20(Mrchristoph).jpg

[4] Neil0wen's Idea - Flame on top of full circle

Logo%20Presentation%20(Neil0wen).jpg

Thank you all!

Let me know what you think.

Overdrive

(P.S. If I missed someone's suggestion, please let me know and I'll throw it up here.)

You are a true workaholic, Logan!

Try to combine [4] logo with [1] repositioning.

Sounds odd, but what if to place the burning circle to the right of OVERDRIVE.

Hmmm, I'm not too sure what to do at this point.

I like the uniqueness/originality (because of the cut circle and passing through the flame) of the original #1 & #2. But I also like the equal dimensions of #3, and it would be easy to brand projects or work with #3. The only downside to #3 though, is that it doesn't seem as original and almost seems overused. #4 has an added depth to it though, which I like, but if it were to be flattened and printed in one color for whatever reason, then it'd seem somewhat cramped and kind of dull.

And everyone seems to like different things haha. Not sure where to go.

Overdrive

You will never please everyone overdrive, thats just how it is

Number 3 is the best in my opinion mate, nice solid font, which links nicely with the logo but the logo on its own looks good and would look smart on business cards etc

Hi Logan

I am obviously not a designer so what my opinion's worth I dont know but me I like number 2,

Thanks Logan for the suggestions - I am studying hard... I have found some wonderful stuff, love learning new things.

Re your logo, I think any of them are great - I would be happy to have been able to even do one of them!! Go with the one that makes you smile :)

  • Author

I think we're deciding just to go along with #1 or #2, and stick with the original look.

Mason (my partner) mentioned he doesn't really care for the look of #3, and he likes #4 but not as much as the originals. Thank you all so much on your feedback, you're all extremely awesome people.

We'll be posting mock-up JPEGs of our upcoming site for review soon. So I really hope you all will come check that out when it's up.

Thank you all again. So much.

Logan

Overdrive

Hi Logan.. I agree with mrchristoph.. maybe, replace the "O" in the overdrive with the circle on your graphic, change the color of the fire-like in your logo, may be orange, instead of plain white??

BTW.. I edited your image.. may be you will get some idea..
