Help needed with layout

Featured Replies

have spent the afternoon putting together a base for my new website,

but kinda of stuck in a creative block,

any feed back would be great,

The content is all paragraphs i have pulled from the web, just to fill the gaps,

here is the site Test site

£150 all inclusive seems nuts :D

I hope you have some stipulations/boundaries for clients who are extremely demanding, other wise time spent to moolah gained ration is not going to be in your favour.

Other than the thrown in type (which you have already explained and will be beefing up) it all looks good.

Yeah I like it....

It's a little too Adobe/Apple, but it's nice, clean and pleasing on the eye ...

A couple of images on there I'd optimise ... One being the monitors.png, which stands at 72kB and saleslines.png which stands at 52k ... I think you could reduce these significantly just by having them as well optimised Jpg's ...

But other than that, well done ...

Oh, one last thing... The footer, not so keen on that ... I think it's the mixture of fonts, styles and colours that's putting me off ...

thanks for the input guys,

will also look at optimising the images,

need to disscus your designs? ..... discuss :spiteful:

Hand drawn logo is a great idea, Syrus. I think other elements of site design (menu, icons) could be created in the same style - drawn on the paper, scanned and processed in PS. Then add paper texture and may be some grunge elements and pour hot black coffee in the empty white mug.

Thanks Lev for the input,

yeah i was thinking of heading down the grunge retro look, but decided on the clean corporate look instead,

but unfortunately have not had time to change the logo yet but will be next on my list

BTW Lev, i got your pm and you should have an email from tomorrow, just been very busy getting new contracts :)

speak soon syrus

Wow! New contracts!

I keep my fingers crossed for you, Syrus!

Like the logo. Not keen on all the white-space or the footer. Think the three screens would look better if they all had a screen image instead of two blank screens and one in the middle. Or at least give them a black blank screen. Not sure what the 'recently launched part is meant to be for, is it for showcasing recently completed projects?

You might want to think of removing the image text from your salesline.png and replacing it with written text. Same goes for all the titles created as png's rather than written text; it's better for SEO and is easier to maintain. All you need is a title ID with a bit of formatting and you shouldnt have trouble achieving the same result.

The site seems to load a little slow as well, that could just be me though.

thanks Taylor for the input

screens are not complete yet will be adding images to the blank screen, (the website is still being designed)

yep the recently launched will be a section of the sidebar where projects are shown.

with reference to the image text, will be using siFR or cufon to replace the text unless some one knows of any other method

footer is going to get a make over, just stuck for ideas at the mo

cheers guys will update this thread as changes have been made
