Need some advice about designing a website for an artist
Hey, Seems like quite a exciting project to take on, this should be FUN!! I should imagine that these guys have a team of designers/developers that maintain the content on the website. The reason I say this is because looking at the source code of the images, they seems to be VERY organized to be inputted via I CMS (could be wrong??). Their URL - <img src="http://assets.radiojavan.com/images/networks/fb_login_button_small.png?1305391256" /> CMS Example - <img src="http://tdi.vw.com/files/2010/12/2010-rfdd-42f.jpg" /> I could be VERY wrong, they may even have an in house CMS designed just for there use. In this day and age it can be hard to know. It's like a mystery story.......you may never know -------------------- P.S - Check you Concrete5 CMS!!!!!

Site about Costa Rica
Hey, Firstly I would like to mention that I HAVEN'T been to Costa Rica but it looks a pretty perfect place. Right going back to the review of the site before I get lost I think the idea of the website is a good idea and it obviously is quite a personal site. A look and feel of the website can all depend on what audience you are trying to attract and also sometimes the subject of the website. At a first look there seems to be ALOT going on and the first thing I personaly got attracted to was the main header of the page, this is because of the bright and LARGE logo and also the solid blue going on. The navigation on the left and right at the top of the page could be quite hard to understand for some people as the intervidual navigation area sub heading can be confused as actually links :-/ I'm not sure about the 'Home, About, Contact etc' and also the social links 'facebook, rss etc' being placed all over the place. It doesn't seems to have a solid navigation :'( Another quick point, the home page of the website is rather long and users have to do a lot of scrolling, I would personal decrease this massively. Sorry for not going into more depth but I have to go out with my little girl Ill write some more later. Sorry for being so harsh and also hope it helps. Thanks a lot, Chris PS - You can NEVER keep everyone happy with designs, there will always be someone that has something to say however good the design is.

Help creating 3-column flow design
Hey, I understand what you are trying to do (i think), is the plan to have a main wrap that stick to the width of the browser window and then within there have 3 columns (left, center and right) with images in the left and right and also a image in the middle with content inside also?? What are you trying to achieve with the images, what i mean is if you want the fluid (stretches to the browser window) style when what are you going to do with the images as while the browser gets smaller the areas will get smaller which will cause the center image to get cut off and not align up correct?? Or do you want the center column to have a fixed width?? Cheers, Chris PS - I'm on the mac now

Simple porfolio
I like this buddy, it's simple and does the job. Nice use of pastel colours too!! One thing I would say tho (this might be only on the iPad) but on each paragraph section, the left boarder doesn't seem to line up with the top and bottom of each paragraph........if that makes sense

Best way to find portfolio-building jobs
Hey, I started with friends and family and then went from there. Keep your thoughts high and sell yourself. Be careful not to take on jobs that are to big for a one man band to handle!! Cheers, Chris

Terms & Conditions
When created mine at the start of last year (felt I needed them) I shopped around and did some research on the matter. I started from scratch with mine and created them over a period of about 2 weeks from start to final write up. You just need to cover your own south hole so that clients don't come back around and stab you in the back. There are many site out there, I started my Googling 'Web Designer Terms and Conditions' which helped massively as some websites out there point out what you need to cover and think about in detail. Because I'm nice like this here is a copy of mine that I email over with clients quotes - http://www.funkthemedia.com/downloads/ftmterms&conditions.pdf Good luck, it's really boring writing them

To Freelance or Not to Freelance?
Hi all, I have quite a tricky question that I have been asked at work the other day, I work for am IT company which involves with IT solutions, network consultancy/management and also development/web design which I love working for. We are going through a rebranding/company growth time and I have been given the job to review the current website and branding of the company which is to say a load of dogs back end!!!! The website was there before I was employed 3 years ago. ......anyhow the question is that I do work in my own time and have been since a couple of months before I started this job, when at the meeting of for the rebrand the subject of performing work in out of work hours was brought up and my little company funkthemedia.com and if I was allowed to do this work still after the rebrand/growth as they say this is basically a bit like taking the skills form my current job role and using them for personal income (type thing :-/). Does anyone know what the law is on this matter and whether I still can and have the right to contiune with funkthemedia.com as this brings in a bit of pocket money here and there and it's like my little hobby? Any feedback on this would be a massive help as I'm not 100% where I stand and my rights for this are bearing in mind that I don't take any customers away from the current company and I also knew web design and development before I was employed there. MASSIVE thanks to anyone is advance, Chris Watterston

500 error when viewing PHP site using IIS7
Hi, I am really coming to the end :'( I have spend about a day and half working on a newly built server (That I built) running 'Windows Server 2008' and using 'IIS7'. I have no problems up until now which is quite annoying, when I set up a website in IIS and make sure all the binding etc are proper, when I go to visit the internal alias it displays a 500 error. I have enabled detailed error and tracking but still haven't got far. Within the 'Error & Warning' within the displayed detailed error it has mentioned the 'FastCgiModule' but not a lot more. I have attached a screen shot of the errors, if anyone could help I would be soooo great full

css drop dopwn menu
I know there is issues with z-index within all IE browsers, not sure about IE9 tho Also you CAN give flash elements a z-index as i have done this before. If i remeber you will need to give most elements/objects on your page a z-index for this to work in IE tho :'( so that the browser know what is going where. If you don't give it a value then IE thinks this is going at the top of the pack
