October 11, 200817 yr Do you know how long it takes for a new website to achieve PR1. Google don't pay attention for new websites, also for new new links (as far as I know). One shouldn't add to many inboud links to new domain, because of sandbox. So how long website with PR0 have to wait to achieve PR1, assuming the website is SEO firendly and have 10 new inbound links weekly and other seo things (google map, sitemaps etc.).
October 11, 200817 yr It takes as long as it takes. Even if you do get past PR0, it's not guaranteed!
October 11, 200817 yr Its different for every site, I created a site for a large corporate which went from 0 to 4 in 4 weeks but I've struggled to get others off the starting blocks. bluedreamer is correct. It'll take as long as it takes. Little James
October 11, 200817 yr Correct. A site I helped make took 1 month to reach PR3. But another took 8 months and got PR2.
November 3, 200817 yr You have to also remember that google doesn't update PR all the time they only do it every 3 to 4 months...normally. Plus if the inbound links are worthless then it won't help the site much...or if by inbound all you are doing is going on forums and blogs and placing a link on them, as like this forum a lot of places work using NOFOLLOW, so it won't count towards your backlinks. So there is really a lot of factors going into a website and the PR it could get.
November 3, 200817 yr just a heads up, google have just done a PR update so should be in the next 2-3 months... but when the day comes when you get your PR it could be anything... ive managed to get a PR of 5 in 28 days so just build up those links and see what happens
January 8, 201016 yr Don't worry about the time or the number, just start building links and try to get as much as possible down the road..... And also remember, It might not always be like jumping to PR1 after the zero volume, because by continuing having a site which is well promoted through good backlinks and from realted sites, you can expect to jump to PR2 or PR3 in the next Google update
January 8, 201016 yr I have a site with a PR of 3 a with only 3 backlinks - the only backlink that has a PR is 3. The site's established and updated regularly. My other site has a PR of 2 and gets 200 more unique hits per day... PR means nothing. I just opened my main freelacne design site two weeks ago and it got a PR of 1 after a week.
January 25, 201016 yr Its depends then PR is all about backlinks, keep building links Blimey - A lot of wrong answers on this thread. Hafsoh is correct - it depends on how many links you build. It definitely is not a case of 'it takes as long as it takes' (whoever said that), and IS all about backlinks. I have sites which have sat on a PR0 for years, why? Because I build no backlinks to them. Other sites I have monthly backlinking campaigns running see rises in PR. Why? Because I'm building backlinks. Here for more detail: http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html Quoted if you'd rather not read it all: "PageRank also considers the importance of each page that casts a vote, as votes from some pages are considered to have greater value, thus giving the linked page greater value." The higher PR you get, the more backlinks you need to get up the next rung on the ladder. PR updates are generally quarterly, and you may notice the updates sooner via the toolbar - but that's speculative and depends on which data center rolls out the update first. There is an equation somewhere on my hard drive with the PR breakdown vs time/links etc, let me know if its needed. Hope that clears up a lot of the confusion here. Andrew Wheeler
February 5, 201016 yr Why do people care about PR? Does PR mean traffic? Does it mean converting people onsite? A PR10 with no traffic is less use than a PR0 with 1000 uniques a week.
