    Hey all,

    Thought this would be pretty useful (maybe sticky it?) to field any SEO questions that come up in here. Its taken me a while to put it together, but I'm using it for my own check list on projects. Let me know what you think;

    Submit the site to Digg and Stumble, and any other good social bookmarking sites you use.

    Then, setup an ezine article account, and submit a short 250 word article about a topic of your choice, and include a link to the site in your 'resource box' at the end of the article.

    Next, grab a RSS submission tool and submit the site there. Then go over to pingomatic and ping your site and the ezine article.

    That should sort it in a few days, give me a shout if you need any help.

    I almost didn't bite - but I couldn't resit posting a reply, its like 2001 all over again!

    To echo Rallport and Charlie's annoyances; this service is junk and the post is complete spam. But I think we should entertain it non the less.

    First up, I don't understand why you would choose to post it here? The guys on this forum already know about SEO, and they are not that naive. No one here will sign up to your service.

    Yes - I do submit my sites to Yahoo and Bing due to my own test results. I have never submitted to Google. Nor have I ever submitted any sites to the other search engines, waste of time - they'll find it once its in the big three. Its unclear if you register the sites in the webmaster areas and submit sitemaps.

    But more to the point, these are the types of 'SEO practices' I (and many others) have been trying to expose as being a complete waste of time and money, and are often fronted by shoddy self claimed SEO experts. I'm not pointing the finger at you Andy501, as you seem to have only 'got an email from these guys'...its just generally a pretty big 'SEO Cowboy' flag, the old Search Engine Submission service.

    From the outside it seems you are just confusing your clients, and telling them what you think they want to hear. Yes, its good practice to submit your site, but its not that important. The search engines are getting pretty smart and will pick up the site naturally. That said, Backlinks will get it noticed much faster for example.

    I would be educating my clients and suggest investing the £30 into article writing and submission, setting up a blog etc... much better ROI. And at your rates, I dread to think what you would charge to rewrite the code on a website to make it SEO friendly!

    I guess for all the 'good guys' doing SEO, they can take comfort in the fact this forum thread review of www.simplesubmission.co.uk will soon be gathering a bit of momentum in the SERPS, and offer curious 'potential clients' another side to the simplesubmission.co.uk service, backfiring some what on the original post intentions.

    No problem. The concept is simple - if your site is listed (and linked to) on sites Google checks every minute, then you'll get noticed faster. These early backlinks to your site are what you need, don't worry about changing the code of the page.

    Setup a number of social media accounts (Twitter/Digg for example) which are related to your industry. Once your site is ready, share/bookmark your new site on the social sites.

    Keep it relevant, add to the social side and don't spam. You'll see the site indexed with a few hours, not weeks or months.

    Now that has to be worth a +1!

    What is the problem in particular? I've been using Adwords for around 5years, and have seen some fantastic successes and fails in that time.

    Like most Google products, they are designed for mass market, so should be extremely easy to use regardless of your technical knowledge or experience with the application.

    Start with this PDF:

    http://www.google.com/adwords/pdf/hc/growing_adwords_en.pdf

    And then read through this:
    http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/static.py?hl=en&guide=21899&page=guide.cs

    And watch these:

    Is it worth the money? Well, most probably, if its setup correctly. But without knowing the details of your campaign its hard to gauge. A very basic part of that is this equation;
    http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=14090hl=en&answer=14090

    Check the case studies on the second link above for some broader examples. You can't expect setting a daily budget of 60p to bring in traffic, hot leads and a few sales to your business - Like with all forms of advertising, you generally only get back what you put in.

    Hope that helps

    To consider taking this to the small claims court is ridiculous - regardless of the principal, is this worth £25?

    As a rule of thumb; You should be conducting SEO before, during and after website builds. Having it as a 'bolt on' after thought will do you, or your clients, no favors in the long run. Bottom line, it'll cost you and your clients more money.

    Build sites around the above SEO techniques to generate traffic, but put these into place as you develop your next website.
