Feedback on my website?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My site is http://www.shivampaw.com and I was wondering if you could provide some feedback on it's design and functionality?

The About page and the Work page aren't done yet and the services page is half completed.

But what do you think about the overall design and functionality so far and how can I improve it it further?

Thanks!

typo in clients - client's satisfaction

it's boring and messy at the same time :)

i would prefer the paw as your logo rather than the uninspiring - but it's whatever vest refelects your image

you have button with "read what i can do" which leads to the services page (called "my services") keep your naming consistent i.e. read (more) about my services. you then go on to show some of what you do below this - which path do you want me to take? :)

seo graphic is dated and looks like a financial paper / powerpoint thing. use the same icon set as below (grey one) and write SEO if the icon isn't clear or you need to adapt a generic one

everyone uses css3 and html 5 now - it's a bit like saying your car has an engine - of no value to a prospective client

the middle illustration is the messy part - no real visual heirarchy - no headings, and don't kknow whether to look left or right. too much information to take in. orange/red text on a blue background - ouch! my eyes are sizzling (scintilation) yellow or white. none of that text is readable by google either and as an image it's useless on mobile!

middle section is standard and more promising but oh wait all i can see is that spinning gear :)

is the png (web site screenshot) on the services page a temporary thing? i assume so cos it's note sized, optimised or even the right file format.

i can still see that spinning gear ;)

I think eventually I'll be getting a better logo, for now though I like the paw after the word "paw"

Hm, perhaps you got confused on it? The top button scrolls down the page to a section which has a brief summary of my services and then those summaries have a learn more button which takes you to the services page (and the specific section on it) where there are more details. Is there something else I should be doing?

Yeah I've hated the graphic since day 1 as well, what else can go there though? Also do you think having a background image would be better?

Removed it :p

I'm confused here, the graphics which are on the My Services pages are of right now (this one for example: http://www.shivampaw.com/images/seo.png) are meant to be the permanent ones. Are you referring to those?

i can still see that spinning gear ;)

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback! Can you please take a look at my replies, which are in bold underneath yours in the quote, and just assist me a bit more if you can?

Thanks a lot!

oh i see what you mean about the green button - that's ok ;)

replace the seo graphic with text.

sorry i wrote about the graphics on the my services page when i meant the My Work page ;)

http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/ewiRS1/http://www.shivampaw.com/work

size them properly and save them as jpegs NOT pngs

Ok. I'll come up with some text for it, what do you think it should be about though?

Ah, I'll change those images. Might even replace them with something totally different like a logo or custom graphic? Thoughts on that? Or should it just be a screenshot of the site?

noticed on the rowley nuresry site the logo is badly antialiased against the background - no doubt you got a jpeg as a logo to work with ;) best thing would be to match the text and reset it, but otherwise you could try this http://gekkoweb.com/stuff/logo-cleaner.png

it jars when the text says "quality of care" and then there's poor quality text :)

Thanks! I'll sort that out :-)

Also I've changed the Work page on my site: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/cSiPdb/http://www.shivampaw.com/work and changed the sizes.

I'm working on a graphic for the homepage to go as a background image. It is a similar type to the graphic on this site: http://www.sarahevansdesign.co.uk/ but the items aren't real world.

And then I'd have a fixed height on the div or calculate it with jQuery by checking the viewport size?

Would that work? I'd probably make a separate one for mobile so it fits

i would simply use max-width 100%, height auto and check how it works at mobile sizes.

Hi,

Please can you take a look and give a final review / any last tips or recommendations?

I have added the background image with support above a viewport width of 568px inclusive (iPhone 5S landscape). Lower than that just uses the normal background colour.

I also removed the old image now. Also changed my

<p>

max-width to 800px.

What do you think now? :-)

Thanks a lot!
