July 11, 201313 yr Hi Just a quick question, i am looking for managerial roles, I have very little actual managerial experience but i feel like i can do it, unfortunately im not getting much luck in securing interviews for these roles. I was wondering doing a Prince2 course will be of some benefit? currently where i am working i don't think i will get the opportunity to be a manager. I am specifically looking for e-commerce manager roles... Any advice on this will be great thanks.
July 11, 201313 yr Do companies still use Prince2? It's been a long time since I went near it, and even then it seemed to add complicated layers to project management! Having these sort of of assets under your belt won't do any harm, even if the company don't use it, it still shows you have some experience and knowledge.

Thanks BlueDreamer i seem to be getting that vibe, I was hoping someone here will be able to shed some more light on this qualification. Really difficult getting a managerial role even though i have plenty of experience i know what a job requires and very good with people, i guess i will have to start knocking a few doors down!!!

It's a bit long winded but if everyone uses the same common method of managing and working in a project it sets a standard way of doing things that everyone is familiar with. It teaches you how to set up a project, managing tasks, activities, milestones, stakeholders and goals.

July 12, 201313 yr I used to be a contract Project Manager and I'm ITIL, APM and Prince2 qualified; I can't say for certain if any of the qualifications gained me a foot in the door, but they certainly didn't hinder me. The public sector seems to like Prince2, but my experience of using it was lover 5 years ago now so things could have changed. My qualifications don't really help me to run my own business so they've lost value to me.

Thanks MMMedia, I'm quite desperate to get into a managerial role, as i think i can be more useful there, curerntly i have to do everything myself in the company i work for, and it's a bit lonely (get the violin out!!) I am working in a small/medium company but a very respectable one in our field. I get the feeling i can't progress any further here and i need to get out before it's too late i think, i have learned alot here... but i can't see any room for progression, feel a bit wasted, hence why joined this forum to mix in with fellow webdesigners so any advice or tips it will be much appreciated.
