March 24, 201313 yr Hi everyone, My client asks more stuff than agreed upon in the contract : sliders, micro content management (content management of multiple zones of the same page), stuff like that, which means perhaps one full working day more than expected. At the same time, he doesn't want to pay more and these features are very important for the project, so I'm looking for other ways of compensation. One idea I had was a guarantee of further projects in the future (he has 2 more projects on the line). Does it sound like a good idea? What else would you consider?
March 24, 201313 yr Integrating sliders won't take long at all (WP plugin), and as we've discussed in another thread - the client should never have received a site built on WordPress that they can't edit! Nevertheless, is it not enough to do these relatively minor changes free of charge in the hope that the client will return to you? That would be my suggestion.
March 24, 201313 yr Regardless of what the system is written in, its critical that you put a stop to this immediately. Change requests, do nothing but lead to scope creep, which leads to delayed projects and a lot of frustration. You need to remind the client to what they agreed upon within the signed contract that they signed off against. Say no immediately, not later. You MUST be firm.
March 29, 201313 yr Meh blooming goal post movers ... how tight was the specification / contract? how far through were you when this came to light? Do you like the client and do they like you? Watch for this sort of thing because this time it's a day and next time it could be two days ... I learnt the hard way. As for compensation, dunno, suggest you stay at their house for the weekend or borrow their car ... they might think it's taking the proverbial but then again so are they
