Featured Replies

I've build a website and hosted on Google App Engine. The details are given below. I need your suggesstions and reviews and its design, performance and usage. Please tell me about ot so that i can improve it more. Also please point the bugs that you have found the the software system if any

Project name: Home Library

Tools used: Java, Javascript, JSP, Apache Tomcat, Apache Ant, Google Appengine SDK, Google Datastore, NetBeans, Dreamweaver and MS Excel.

Hosted on: Google App Engine

Database used: Google Datastore

Purpose of project: View, search and add books into this library. View the title page and content page of almost all books listed . Use powerful dynamic search feature to search books easily.

Currently it has small number of books listed. I request all of you to add books into this library and share my website link with their friends.

Whats next update: I am continuously working on it to make it more powerful. Because there are some bugs in this system

Please refer to the instructions given on website to know how to use the library system

Just for the record, this is clearly a homework project

"Best viewed on latest Google Chrome. May have some capability issues with FireFox and Internet Explorer"

Immediate fail right there. Demonstrates to me you haven't bothered test your site yourself, so why should we do it for you?

I spent a whole minute clicking around on your site and come across the following.

You request we add a book. However, when I treid to do that, I got a very unfriendly error message with a blank saying I need to be an admin.

You've left in links to your local computer E.g. http://localhost:808...r/logoutServlet

I have a logout link visible when I'm not even logged in.

Your contact form attempts to open up my emailo client when I press send.

When you've taken the time to test the site yourself and aren't going to ask people to do your work for you, post again.

Only thing I liked was the fact you've listed "MS Excel" under the tools section, that made me lol :)

i think that when you visited the site, at that time i was doing some changing in the site backend and forentend. so thats why you saw many strange things. but now its ready. so please take a look again if you wish

You know what, I was really stressed and annoyed when I wrote that reply. As a result it was overly harsh. Apologies

we've all done that. +1 for apologising.

OK, the logo, I don't like the shiny floor reflection thing - maybe 5 years ago...

The text is really hard to read , light blue on blue, not great for usability.

The tables look really ugly, if you must have borders, use css to make them pretty! even a solid 1px black declaration would look better
