Link a Dreamweaver website to a downloaded admin template

Featured Replies

Hello,

Ok, so im kind of new to the advance side of web design. I have recently design a pretty looking website in photoshop, sliced it and exported it to dreamweaver. All of the link work and everything is great. Except a few things:

1. I have NO idea of how to install a search bar and make it start working.

2. I have downloaded a quick admin template which i was hoping to link to the site so that i could edit parts from the back end. I also want to learn how to do this so that i can start designing for clients and they can edit their own work. I dont know how to linmk the two together :/ Anyideas?

This is a link to the site where i got the template. http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2012/04/admin-templates.html

3. I was hoping to have a login in section for members. But i need a database and once again, have no idea of how to get one or set it up.

AH! Please help someone.

Many thanks,

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's an awful lot for someone that doesn't know a programming language.

Really two routes you can go down, learn the languages and skills needed to create the site from scratch or use a ready made solution.

Unfortunately if you choose to go the learning route, you'll have to start at the very basics as exporting a Photoshop site to Dreamweaver is as to a real website what taking a crayon and drawing on a toilet roll is to fine art.

My recommendation is to get the basics of HTML/CSS learnt and then move on to Javascript for effects and then PHP and MySQL for the programming language and database.

You could also look at using open source tools that are already available such as WordPress or Joomla.
