Featured Replies

Ok i just checked my website im page rank 0/10

i just checked another site and its n/a

does this mean that 0 is an actuall rank(not that im proud! lol) and n/a isent good enough to be ranked yet?

  • Author

I guess n/a would mean that Google doesn't even recognise it as being worthy of a page rank haha

Thats what I thought :)

So 0/10 is one step closer to getting a real pagerank bassicaly wooo!

A P/R of Zero simply means that it hasnt figured out or updated the score for that particular page yet. Its not saying "Your crap", its just saying, "We havent updated our score of that page" (If the page is fairly new, within the last 12 months) but if the page is very old, and been around ages, like a homepage, then it most likely just means "We think its rubbish because nobody else likes it"...

For the most part, your everyday joe blogs websites rank anywhere from 0 to 5, and the 6+ websites are the BIG sites with the BIG budgets to spend thousands every month on adsense, magazines and other promotions.

One thing is for sure, your not doing yourself a ton-o-favours sharing your server in the netherlands with 4500+ websites!!!!!

Here are what they mean to google:

PR 0: we are aware of the existance of your site thorugh a low number of backlinks, but it doesn't currently have much authority - we won't place much importance on your site for now.

PR says N/A (or grey bar): could mean a few things. We chaven't calculated a PR for you yet (site is too new), Google removed your PR you broke our rules, something has changed and your PR is currently being recalculated (can be good or bad).

Basically (apologies in advance for quoting a rule from the seo cliques handbook), just concentrate of writing quality contabnt that people will want to link to. As your site a typical web design company site - that is very very oversaturated - you have a pretty big challenge ahead :) However, you do have a blog, which is good - but you need to write some good stuff that keeps your looking professional (rounded corners with CSS3 really doesn't make you look too good lol) and is wiorthwhile enough for people to link to.

Superb piece of writing. Thanks for sharing this valuable information to us.

Most of the time im not even checking PR. Look at the position - this is something challenging.

Could some industries struggle to get a high page rank?

E.g. my company is a formwork contractor, and clients don't really want to link to our page as they just want to find a contractor, call us up and that's it. I don't think there's too many people interested in linking to our site; unless we write detailed pages on how to carry out formwork (then we're teaching people how to do our job and doing ourselves out of business).

Don't get obsessed with Pagerank or any other metric that's banded about. The true measure for your situation is getting enquiries/leads via your site, so with that in mind make your site provide relevant information for potential customers.

This topic slipped through the net - a reply to a 2011 post. Still, nice advice, BlueDreamer.

I don't pay much attention to PageRank myself, but I wouldn't say that I'm an authority on it. As per the post originally by Rallport on 05 February 2011, it sums things up unless anyone has anything new and rewarding to add to it :)

Look at page authority and domain authority. Page rank gets rare updates and people obsess. Use factors that are updated regularly.

Precise; thats where you need to find ways of getting links. Thats where the money goes wheb you hire an seo company. People dont realise thats its actually quite difficult abd not a case of us just making links out of thin air.

Guest post on industry specific websites. I bet you could right a great set of articles. Find blogs that are related to you and your niche. Doesnt have to be a website that is exactly your niche, but construction websites and so on.

Build a relationship with them and write articles for them. Thay should get you a ton of great links

Just few min early I check the PR it shows -1 even google.com shows PR -1 . I don't understand this. Is there any update going on related to Page rank or it is just my Add-on error

Page rank 0 means it going to reach pr1 in near future, i think the page rank checker has a limitation that it can not display the fractional part like 0.1, 0.001, 0.25 etc. It can display only(1-10).

It is better to be pr0 than n/a(not applicable).
