Another one of my projects has been given the green light and has gone live several days ago.

My client has also had some feedback from one of her clients, asking if the images on the portfolio can be protected somehow (as in stopping people from stealing the images etc). I am not sure how this can be stopped as people can snapshot the screen, or drag them to the desktop. Does anyone have any ideas?

Its a nice simple design that shows off the photography really well...only thing I don't like is the centered nav menu (but this is a personal thing rather than a design thing )

OK, if we're being REALLY picky, on the 'I have worked with..', technically an ellipsis has three dots... never more, never less.

Two things...

i've made the credits at the bottom failry low-key as to not distract the eye from the main design, but maybe it could be a tad lighter, I will take a look. The client requested an actual "contact" page with the full contact details on that page. But I maybe discuss putting the details on other pages too.

I will fix that straight away, in fact I need to make sure the pages are all correctly validated, and this is something I have to do the next day or so!

OK, if we're being REALLY picky, on the 'I have worked with..', technically an ellipsis has three dots... never more, never less.

 

 

It good to be picky as even the smallest little detail can make a site jump off a page

Photographers are probably the most fussy clients I've ever dealt with, even if you pursuade them not to have an all-flash site they still want their sites to be like the others!

To be honest my client is not taken in by all the "glitzy" flash sites on the web. At the end of the day she required a site that

has a simple clean easy to use interface which is non-flash based, so the end product has worked out well.

 

Yeah you guys got me thinking about the contact info on most pages.

And then I'd like to add to the pickyness that there's a ellipsis character … (Unicode U+2026, Enitity …) which often looks better than three separate periods as it's more condensed.

You've hit both my passions (photography and BMWs) with your websites - I especially like the photography one.

 

Watch out if you do any more BMW sites - BMW AG are very protective of the BMW name and logos and if they are used without permission you could be sent letters from their solicitors

(One of the BMW Forums I moderate on had this happen to them)

 

One theory about the colours on the M badge is that they represent Laguna Seca Blue, Estoril Blue and Imola Red which are paint colours available on BMW M Sport models. You will also note that Laguna Seca, Estoril and Imola are names of famous Race Tracks.

Yes, the client did inform me that they have had to change their company name in the past, and not show bmw logos etc.

 

Thanks for the info on the M Sport identity, I have a friend whom has worked for BMW for many years and he tells me a lot of stuff similar to your input about BMW history, and various facts about how and why they design their cars etc.

 

By the way, did you see last weeks Top Gear? They had Sat-Nav controlled BMW flying around their test track with JC just sat their not touching the steering wheel or pedals and feeling very scared!!!

Its not auto generated thumbnails.

 

The whole site uses php "include" scripts to add common elements such as thumbnails, text navigation, the logo, etc.

 

The thumbnails have been purposely chosen by the client as they stand, but yeah good point, the chefs knot is not "food",

Yeah the image thing is a bit of a concern, so I am assessing what I can do to remedy this situation

 

The clear gif idea might a good option.
