Right well it has taken longer than I wanted to get this update done...but its nearly there....I think

The last time I posted I got some great advice and did use some of it and followed the advice not to change the layout too much so the changes I did make are:

• It now works without the css, which was my main concern about the last one.
  
• I have increased the width, thus giving me more space for larger screenshots
  
• Increased the text size
  
• Added a style changer
  
• Updated my work to show some of the newer designs I have done
  
• Did a few little touches to the site.
  
• some other stuff too
  

 

Some of you might notice that the great logo that *Kenv designed for me isn't on the site, that is because it just didn't sit right on the site so I decided that it was best not to use it after all

 

So anyway, advice on what is needed, not needed or just some opinions would be great I would appreciate it if you don't like it to explain why as just saying you don't like it doesn't help and isn't a review...I am all for people not liking the site but I would love to know why that is

I just noticed the tagline changes for each stylesheet - very nice touch

I really like this website.. everything is consistent, the style switcher works great, the typography is nice, there is enough padding on everything, the main navigation and sub navigations work well, the colors aren't overused, and the portfolio works really well with the javascript slider. I have no complaints, it's a nice website.

Brilliant website, looks pretty familiar compared to the old one but why fix what's not broken . I've noticed a few things though, the tag lines next to Dizi Designs are a little too weak, make them a little heavier so people can see them easier without squinting (although that could very well just be my monitors). Also on the portfolio view pages I think it'd look a little nicer if the text wasn't indented as far underneath the headers.

 

I'd place the images for the other themes in a div at the bottom of the page with a width and height of 1px and set it to be invisible also, this way the style wouldn't take as long to change.

 

I'm liking the girl in the tie and jacket too .

 

Edit: One last thing I forgot, change the about tab to "About Me" as for one the section is titled "About Me" when you click the link anyway, and also you'd be able to make the text the same size as the other tabs giving it a more uniform look.

Love the minimalistic approach very well executed. A nice twist on the navigation also which I'm sure some won't appreciate but I like it.

Can I just say one teensy weensy little thing............... The contact me page is very white, could do with a little image there to break up the whiteness. Why not use something like the illustration in your profile (the one with the pencil. That would tie in so well.)

 

Other than that, FAB!

I really like the style of the site, nice and clean, very uncluttered.

 

I would love to know how you go about switching the entire look of the site through css like you have here, it's a really nice touch, i'm going to have to look into that!

Wow. What a successful portfolio that is! One thing, just one little thing. I'm not sure the negative kerning works well on the tag line. Every other aspect on the page is enhanced by the great use of white space; everything breaths well but this text. Otherwise, it's very well done and polished.

It really is fabulous, I do like working my way around your site. It's easy and there's lots to see.

 

I have to agree on the taglines being a bit squished, and the other thing is the indent of text on the portfolio pages - if you are gonna have it indented on the left, I think it should have padding on the right so that it is equally indented as you have on the home page. It's just a bit wonky ?

 

So yeah, fix the squish and the wonk and it'll be perfect. Such technical terms I'm finding this morning!

 

I absolutely adore the style changer, especially loving the blue style with the fishies. I didn't find that it took any time to switch really? At least no longer than I expected.

• the squish and the wonkness has been sorted (I think, if you still think it is off let me know)
  
• Reduced indent size
  
• slightly darkened the tagline colour
  
• changed 'about' to 'about me'
  
• changed the contact page so that there is less white, I am planning on making the line the colour that the style is, however at the moment the page breaks in IE6 (no surprises there) so I want to resolve that before doing any colour changes

EDIT: Also I think that the sever problem is now fixed as well, so if you could check that the site work both with and without the www. that would be really helpful

yeah I should have mentioned that too. Pink is the default colour and for some reason in IE6 it loads that default colour for a split second on every page load before changing to the styled colour, I have no idea why.

 

I am working on a php version of the style changer that will style a few other elements of the site as well. So at the moment it doesn't bother me too much. as the style changer is just a temporary one and the new one will fix that problem

Now that is a site to be proud of

I think it's cute, like the website is somehow trying to drop subtle hints that it like the pink style best.

@ Eris, I will have a look at it when I get home tonight...I should really be getting ready as I need to be out the house in 10 minutes, but all I want to do is fix my site

@Rachael, Well pink is the best one to use as it is the original colour for the site
