  1. Ok I took a look at your css, I am not sure what could be causing that in IE. But one thing I did notice is you are calling for specific fonts that you avergae JOe is not going to have on his computer and that may be part of it. Arial, Helvitica, Tahoma, verdana - yes FortuneCity, DoradoHeadline, BN FontBoy, Bauer, Alako-Bold - NO Now I do have thos on my computer but I make graphics and banners for sites and need a large variety to choose from, your average joe computer person won't have them.
  2. I looked at the source code, it is a animated gif.
  3. Paul increase the purple gradient about 200 pixels lower and start the image directly below the header so it goes behind the menu and the body, those white spaces between the header, menu, and body are awful. Otherwise it is getting there!
  4. OK I like the new header, things I would do - get rid of the ">>" in the menu, make the links a tad smaller so they are all on one line. get rid of the purple boxing Change the background to a graident, starting with the purple from the header at the top of the gradient down to white also keep one header for the entire site
  5. This looks like it could be a very unique and striking site when completed... great work!
  6. If the text is over the image a gif is a good idea, but let's say you are using a small button image you made NEXT to the text, I would reccommend a png, as there is less distrotion and no chance of white around the image.

  8. They don't understand "no", but if you tell them na (pronounced like pa or da, short a) they understand. (my nephew-in-law is from India) I know how you feel, I am tired of the outsourcing to there, the main reason being, is if I call customer service for whatever company, I don't need someone lying to me from the very start of the conversation, ie. "hello my name is robert, ) when you know damn well their name is punjawalla or something! And no I am not a bigot, I am married to a mexican, I have every color imaginable in my family and I am homosexual, I just believe if you run a company in a certain country the jobs need to stay there in that country!!
  9. Mommy and Daddy don't count.
  10. Ok that is just downright rude. You came on here asking for criticism, you got exactly what you asked for and now you turn around be hateful and crass with these people?? WRONG! Smooth has designed a site and like you take plenty of hits in the critique! The people you are asking, most of whom are professionals at this, you should be thanking not taking pot shots at! Your site is not worth their time to even consider or help you if are going to be hateful. I am glad they were nice enough to help me, critique my site, and help me fix it - not once would I have said to one of them "I would be curious to see something you have designed lately?" Also for your information, hearts for romance is cliché, Valentine's is cliché, none of what it did mean is around or how it is meant anymore.
  11. Much much better Joel! I still don't like the font, but hey at least it is uniform.
  12. I agree!! Even if it is another dark design, is it a sign of the times everything being designed dark lately?
  13. LOL!! Peter you're a nut! Alek it's looks perfect now, why re-design? I think you are now going into what I call the "over-thinking" stage, where you finally get what you want comprimised with what actually works and then you think "Hmm but what if I do this?" Stop now, back away from the computer and give it a few days to settle with you. I was doing the same thing with my site, so I decided to stop for a bit and work on my other sites.
  14. Alek, take "yourself" out of the header and see how that works. I actually like the idea of having your real work are on the header, kind of reminds me of the official harry potter website, but the image of you throws everything off in that aspect.
  15. Kyle - it looks real good, for a dark site(don't like dark sites myself) that being said one thing that bugged me was the "latest news" on the right side of thr screen, it drew my eye away from the main part of the site right away. Aslo the distressed font you used, it is hard on the eyes light text on a dark background with out having it warped as well.
  16. Looks really nice, I just wish it wasn't a picture and a real site - would like to actually click on it to see how it works.
  17. No offense but your header reminds me of my 4 year old nephews art project. I asked him how he made it, and he told me, "we taped the paper to the wall and threw things at it and what stuck made the picture". It needs more structure.
  18. I like it - well done, nice layout and design. The only thing I see "bugging" is that in IE the index page deos not render correctly, in FF it is fine and all other pages are fine, but yoru contect on the index drops way low in IE. Good Job!
  19. I don't know what the problem is 0 the images (both links) show up in FF but not IE7?? Anyhow, looks very nice, well done!!
  20. Image doesn't enlarge -

If you did that to find my "bug" then you have the patience of Job! Thanks Again, and I will remember that tip!!

OMG!! DOH! that fixed!! thanks you so much Sun!! Are you calling me stupid? Oh wait I am! LOL!!
  23. http://www.johnkevans.co.uk index - make the logo static, too much flash - takes too long to load and I have dsl. about - text covers up the menu(IE), make the text area dynamic so it adjusts to the length of the page itself properties - picture drops behind menu, shorten picture products, automotive, aviation - same thing http://www.dtperformanceltd.co.uk/ index - upper left corner flash, get rid of it, just go with the final image/logo - takes too long to load. other pages - either go with white or grey text, light text on dark backgrounds is hard in the eyes in the first place but if you are going to use it, choose one or the other not both. http://www.dtheta.co.uk/ index - looks as it was just thrown together, no flow to the page. about, valve train - again DYNAMIC, in IE the content mixes together and is unreadable. IMHO the 3rd is the worst of the 3. Sorry

Still cannot figure this problem out, here are my index and css files, maybe somone else can see something? index.htm style.css

OK I changed 3 of the links to something other than # and they still not hover or click.... thsi just doesn't make sense. Same code as my other site and yet nothing in IE! I need a bottle of aspirin! LOL!!
