Thanks for the response - home insurance won't work at my end which is a pain! Well, it does but excess is £100 and doesn't cover me outside the house which isn't what I need. Protect your bubble was good until I read the small print - its only for items <12 months old. Thanks for the help though, not too sure which route to take now.

Hi guys, Thanks for the prompt responses. However, in reply to having it on the home insurance, that wouldn't cover it out of the home - which is where it'll be most of the time! As for setting up a bank account (if that's what you mean, sorry if I misunderstood) that works out pretty expensive as it is just the macbook I am looking to insure.

Hi guys, I've just invested in a macbook air and I'm going to be taking out the house a lot so I'm after some insurance (which covers, damage, loss and theft amoungst the normal coverage). I've been looking around and most seem to only cover you if your product is <12 months old. Does anyone know of any insurances companies that cover if the product is over 12 months old? If so can you refer me to them? In terms of costing, I'm looking to pay around 60-70 GBP a year - value of the macbook is around 700. Thanks an advance to anyone that helps!

Hi guys, so I haven't been around here for some time now - been super busy with business, college and work! Anyway, I'm currently 16 and have been persuing opening a business for quite some time now and things are taking off pretty quickly. I have my pitch infront of potential investors coming up next week and I am in need of some market research statistics that I have conducted myself. This will help me hugely and should only take less a minute to complete! HELP ME OUT! Ps - super sorry if this seems spammy or attention seeking, I'm just a young guy starting a business and I could use the support of fellow web/graphic designers to get it all kickstarted! Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more man. It's like travelling back in time going from your designed site to the landing page. Although I'm just a kid and probably no-where near your level of expertise, from my experience and what I've been told by people I work(ed) for.. Is it worth getting involved? I mean, do you work with this site often? Is it something you have a say about normally? Was it just a one-off piece of work? At the end of the day, if it's not your business the best you can do is offer an opinion as a web designer yourself. Surely that can't do any harm but customers can be real difficult at times and may just reject your opinion and leave it. Either way I don't think you have anything to lose, do you? If it does bother you just say how you feel and see what the client says, you may even up getting asked to improve it and gain some extra money on the site. Who knows? Reading that back, I do seem to blab on a bit.. Sorry about that. I hope it is of some use!

Basically this error has came out of no where.. Last night it wasn't even issue and everything was working fine. However, I checked this morning and I'm not sure whether the client has done anything or if something has stopped working. If you visit http://strawberrylemonadeonline.com/ on your mobile device, the navigation messes up and text appears outside the select. I've been fiddling for ages and I cannot find a solution. It's even harder as on dev tools, I'm not getting the error happen only on genuine mobile devices.. Can anyone help? ps - I appreciate the code is awful, I got approached by a client who didn't want to pay the original web company who created the site to fix small errors, so he came to me. Thanks

Hi there, its been a while since I've posted here but haven't forgot about this place! Anyway, recently someone approached me about a WordPress issue they were having (to do with their responsive navigation) and they didn't want to ask their previous developer due to severe over charging and so on.. From someone who doesn't work with WP often enough, I am fairly certain I could solve the issue but what I need to know is, what's the best way to go about solving it? Do I back the site up and then edit it live or do I download it, set it up on my server and then reupload? If you need more info just ask, it's 7 am and I'm quite tired aha ;p thanks.

I can Vouch for Asana - never really used others so I can't call it 'better' than any others buy Asana is great for project management and has a nice UI.

What a time to go in to administration as well.. I mean, with the iPhone 6 release just around the corner, now wasn't the best time for them to go down. In a way it's not too surprising, they were only ever 'middle men' in the chain, now adays a lot of people go direct to the phone provider as it's just as simple and you can search for cheap deals yourself now. In a way, Carphone warehouse (who personally I thought were never that big compared to Phones4U) can thrive off this as their main competition has gone, but on the other hand they could be next. Business is a weird world, full of surprises.

Basically what I was going to say upon reading this.. If it's a solo site, surely that's a lot of effort (for much larger hosts) to inform a client of every time it goes down - maybe it could be done for sites down 30+ minutes?

Remove the padding/margin from your HTML,body {} in your CSS. I'd explain the other issue but I'm on phone so its a bit of a hassle. Sorry if this is useless! Just I'm out at the moment so I can't do much in terms of explanation.

I mean at the moment I've been doing front-end dev for around 2 years (Photoshop, fireworks, HTML/CSS, basic JavaScript) and this is all still interesting to me, I just don't really want to get to the stage where I'm only writing code if you get me? I prefer doing anything related to the look of a site/webapp. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll take a look

This sounds familiar. I've considered looking in to UX path myself as I always find it interesting - I mean at the moment all I have done is read a few articles but I'm talking in the future (whilst at uni). How do you find it? Whilst Fuzzy Logic & rbrt are both respected members and both put forward a good argument, its not like I take sides. I mean, we're all probably in different areas of the world and with different preferences. Like what was said earlier, it seems like it is down to the individual and they choose it as they go along? Guess I'll fond out, ey?

Yeah, I guess my course choice will depend on how things plan out up to then. I'm not really looking to go in to programming as such, I'd like to keep things front-end, but who knows I may fall in to that area at a later time.

Haha.. Now I laugh in a slightly uncomfortable way. I've just chosen the college path and turned down 2 apprenticeships I was offered for web design. - in hope of aiming for a degree once I reach university level. Like you said, however, everyone's path is different and I hear differently from a wide range of people, so I guess I should carry on this way and see how it all pans out.

You've used the side menu as effectively as possible, in my opinion. It flows and it's nice with a scroll page. Anyway, OP, I've recently done a 1-page hosting template for a client (I can't share yet as it's not 100% finalised) but I haven't used a sticky navigation as it's not that long of a page (mainly consists of 3 pricing tables and an about us section at the bottom) of which I find the user will find easily anyway. I guess if you have many sections of the site, then it is best to keep the navigation in view for the user so they know where they can go from there on.

Oh, nice. Its not much to save up I guess if you have a job on the side. Travelling sounds like a nice idea, but isn't it lonely? What are the other benefits, besides getting experience?
