Layout won't centre!
It's because your div tags are out of sync, you end the container div just after the navigation! <body> <div id="container"> <div id="bannercontainer"><center><img src="../images/banner2.png" alt="Banner" /></center></div> <div id="navigation"><br /></div> <div id="navigation-tt"><br /> <a href="index.php?p=start"> Start </a>| <a href="index.php?p=archive"> Nyhetsarkiv </a>| <a href="index.php?p=search"> Sök </a>| <a href="index.php?p=recensioner"> Recensioner </a>| <a href="index.php?p=faq"> FAQ </a>| <a href="index.php?p=contact"> Kontakt </a>| <a href="forum/index.php">Forum</a>| <a href="index.php?p=about"> Om Oss </a>| <a href="index.php?p=chat"> Chat </a> | Navigation | <a href="index.php?p=manga"> Mangalista </a>| <a href="index.php?p=animel"> Animelista </a>| <a href="index.php?p=suffix"> Namnsuffix </a>| <a href="index.php?p=genrer"> Genrer </a>| <a href="index.php?p=wallpapers"> Wallpapers </a>| <a href="index.php?p=ost"> Anime OST </a></div> </div> <!-- THIS IS THE CLOSING DIV FOR #CONTAINER, AS YOU CAN SEE IT ONLY CONTAINS THE NAVIGATION -->

Store contents of form for use later
I'd use hidden form fields to pass the variables between pages. <form> /* payment form */ <input type="hidden" name="passed_data" value="<?php echo $_POST['data']; ?> /> // $_POST['data'] is from original form. </form> That can then be accessed in the subsequent page as $_POST['passed_data'] If however you don't have a form that you are able to adjust on your payment page you can stick the data in the URL and then reference it as a GET variable.

MySQL security
If no dynamic/user data is being put into a query then you needn't worry about SQL injections, I'd just ensure your connection details are stored outside of the web directory so it cannot be accessed in a browser.

Who is your Host? How do you rate them? (0-10)
Well it sounds although you have had more damaging issues than me, my main gripe with them was relating to sites using PHP/MySQL; it would often and unpredictably return blank pages saying 'done' when requesting a page which accessed the database (even simple queries)...as I was new to PHP I thought it was something I was doing wrong, then I installed Wordpress and the same thing happened but even so they claimed it was my fault! Think its something to do with the shared databases, I asked to transfer to another server and they said they can't do that so I had to transfer form Linux to Windows and back to Linux again just to end up on a different server, it somewhat solved the issue, although the pages are still incredibly slow and, Wordpress especially, still returns blank pages! Also the customer support ticket system is a copy and paste affair, where they don't actually read your email but often offer an irrelevant generic response of no use, as resellers of FastHosts I don’t think they have much control over the servers. I'd recommend anyone to use a host that uses cPanel, means you learn a more powerful and crucially more common interface! I agree, their cheap prices and coverage do attract the unaware -- as I was.

Where has the "View New Posts" button gone?
You can view 'latest discussions' on the sidebar though it only displays 10 posts, would be good if it displayed 10 posts then had a link to view all new posts (maybe latest 50)!

minerale water page
Well, yeah there’s a little too much whitespace at the moment but I imagine you'd end up with more content right? I'd also recommend using softer blues or maybe some subtle gradients.
-
minerale water page
Sorry, I didn’t explain very well, I mean in the tagline within your design!
-
minerale water page
I wouldn’t recommend using 'u' instead of 'you'!

Forum Upgraded
Brilliant, I look forward to it! Yeah I've got that up and running, cheers for that, I just hope I don't miss the 'official' fixed width because I'm using stylish!
-
Forum Upgraded
Yeah you need to make it fixed width! or at least use a max-width, thats the reason I chose this forum in the first place, other than that it looks really good!

Is your text an image? if so thats a really bad idea for SEO, maintainability and usability!

W3Schools offers certification
I agree, especially considering your supervisor (the person who ensures you don't cheat) could be your mother! Saying that, the logo might inspire confidence from your clients if displayed on on your site.

Session variables.
Cheers for that, I haven't had the time to test it myself! Obviously its not necessary to know, but is always interesting!
-
Session variables.
I see so do you know what the contents of the file 'SESS_ + sessionid' is? Does it literally just contain standard php variables?
-
Session variables.
Hi people, I've just been looking into using sessions instead of cookies to store log-in details and although I haven't had the time to implement a log-in script that uses sessions I'm pretty confidant I understand it. There is just one question, which is pretty much irrelevant in practice but I am interested how the server-side session variables are stored? I know they are in a tmp folder on the server but what format are they stored in, is it a plain text file or something else? Any insight would be great Rich.

Limiting word count?!
You can do it by limiting the number of characters like this: if (strlen($row['description']) > 500) { // shorten string and add '...' $small = substr($row['description'], 0, 500) . '...'; } Dunno if that would be any good?

Noob Question About Java + PHP etc
Yeah the web design course was a foundation degree, which led me to the third year of BSc (Hons) Computer Science. I felt the same way, but the third year of most degree programs ultimately let you do anything you want so I focused on web design, coding my final project in php.

Noob Question About Java + PHP etc
Yeah it was the same on my web design course, we didn't touch HTML, CSS, PHP, ASP, JavaScript etc. until the second year. When we did it was only brief to be honest, ended up teaching myself most of what I know. My course was a two year FdSc which meant it was designed with the idea that students could 'top' it up by studying the final year of a BSc Computer Science course which is why we had to learn things like standard compiled languages etc. Because of this I ended up doing the final year in Computer Science...something I had no intent of doing at the start. I see it that my degree will get me an interview and my portfolio, developed in my own time, will get me the Job, but I guess I'm gonna find out if that's the case this summer!

Google search results - 'size attribute'
Bit weird, Google state it gives the user some idea of how long it will take for the site to load, that's clearly not the case, unless of course the site is being viewed through a text only browser, which it almost never will be. Also what's the definition of the 'text portion' of the page? Does this include the HTML tags surrounding the text or literally just the words as seen through a browser?
-
Google search results - 'size attribute'
I wonder if anyone minds me bumping this up, as I posted pretty late last night. Cheers.

Google search results - 'size attribute'
Hi people, Does anyone know how Google comes up with their 'size' attribute (see big arrow in image) within search results. a) I am unsure what it is, is it the size of the HTML file? if it is the size of the HTML file, what is the point as clicking the corresponding link will download far more data than that, i.e. all the images, css, scripts, flash etc. so it doesn't really help the user. Anyone able to enlighten me? Cheers Rich.

What type of website should I make?
Sounds like you're working backwards, a website should come because of an idea, not the other way round!
