Safari 6
Updated to mountain Lion, since I'm a sucker and can't wait to use the latest apple software. Been pretty good all round, except safari 6 is irking me. The web inspector has changed and I have no idea how to get the old one back (if it's even possible), it's needlessly complex too. Plus it won't let me refresh pages while the inspector is open, which is a real pain in the ass. Is anyone else using safari 6?

quitting smoking..
You could try electronic cigs (it's what helped me quit, over a year now), they're really good.

The patent trolling by Apple and Samsung is really just out of hand now. I heard apple are trying to patent the macbook air's shape, wtf? That's beyond silly, it's like patenting a rectangle. Patents should be for specific stuff like the design of a microchip.

Please review my latest site! (It's responsive)
Thank you! The layout will constrain on larger monitors (width set to 1200px, max width to 100% so anything under 1200 it shrinks down). I really don't like using (what I consider) tiny widths as the 'standard' before the responsiveness kicks in. 960px always seemed like too small a column for me and I figured 1200 would fit perfectly on even the smallest netbook screens. The challenge with larger widths is setting up your layout so the blocks of text aren't too wide, that's just annoying to read.

Site looks nice. You need some sort of validation on your contact form though.

My pressonal portfolio
Why do people even bother asking for reviews on templates? It's like asking for us to check your spelling, that's all it amounts to.

I use a 2010, 13" MBP for all my work, works fantastic. I've upgraded to an SSD and 8GM ram, thing flies and never misses a beat. However, I'd caution against getting an iMac, you can't change out HDD's and it's obviously not portable. Get yourself a nice 15" MBP then upgrade the HDD to an SSD (I'd recommend the samsung 830), then use an external monitor. That way you can move around and work anywhere. Oh and the newer MBP's almost (and in some cases do) beat out the iMacs in performance, so yeah. It's that or you're best waiting until they release new iMacs late this year.

Oh yes, that's a good idea! I think I'll move it to the footer for the large and phone resolutions.

Please review my latest site! (It's responsive)
Hello folks, Client wanted a clean, simple site that's easy to read and would describe what their consulting business does. The emphasis is on readability and scaleability for different devices. It's hosted on my own domain at the moment (until I get their domain transferred to us for hosting) http://www.andrewsmorris.co.uk The site loads very fast since there's very few images, and the whole layout is just based around the content itself. I don't know if I've got the 'responsive' thing down yet, but it seems to work pretty well. Let me know what you think.

Review my Website please
Honestly, you should be taking a completely blank wordpress theme (such as http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/toolbox) and making it your own. I mean COMPLETELY blank themes. That way you'll learn how it works. You can't just sell free themes that you steal, but there's plenty of blank ones to pick from you can build up then sell.

A page.
Looks pretty good, I've had issues with firefox's padding too. Just out of interest, what responsive grid system did you use, or did you write your own?

my first site (work in progress)
Looks very 1997. 'Retro', if you will.

Sean McP Web Design
Yeah, good stuff. Maybe you could put a little more in there, it seems quite sparse, but apart from that it looks good.

Not sure where to go from here
I like the idea (and the subject ), perhaps you'd be better with a news style wordpress theme that you customise yourself though?
-
Please review
Well it's just a blank wordpress theme really, but its clean and easily readable. Guess it gets the job done.

I'm not trying to be harsh, it's just not good.

The 'box model' - responsive design
Can someone explain to me the basics of the box model in web design? I'm planning to make my next project a responsive site and I'm quite confused by the box model principle. On the responsive templates I've seen it's all 'rows and columns', yet there's sometimes like 16 columns, how the heck do I put content into that? Is there anything I should be reading as a sort of primer for designing a responsive website?

designed2affect - Create a Pro Video
When you resize the browser window there's a giant white background that intrudes into the content.

The Creative Sheep - Design / VFX Web Site Review
Oh man, one of the worst sites I've seen in recent months. You should just delete it and start again, there's way to much wrong with it to offer any real constructive criticism.

Check out my site Redesign!
I may just do that. By the way, when I resize my browser on your business site the background of your main elements disappears and is covered by the body's background. You may need to apply min-width to some stuff fix this.

That's a deliberate design decision. Since that slider has a parallax type of effect I wanted the different elements to move as the browser window is resized. Now I'm trying to think of ways to make the design look more interesting, without adding unnecessary fluff or complicating it too much.

Resize then scroll to the right.

Well the 'find out more' span lip seems to move on browser resize, but other content doesn't move. And when you resize the background disappears. Trying giving your main_bg wrapper div a min-width the same as your main_container, you'll probably have to change some other stuff too if you want to avoid that quirk.

Your site is fantastic, I can't see anything I'd change. I especially like the textures and font faces you used.

Check out my site Redesign!
I updated the site with a much more 'readable' typeface, since that seemed to be one of the main criticisms people have made. I do think it looks a lot better, so thanks for that!
