Hey folks,

I posted here a few weeks ago and got to really helpful advice on my site, since then I've made quite a few changes based on the feedback. :)

http://www.simplerweb.co.uk

The site is still in what I'd call the 'beta' phase, with more to add/change - but it's looking much more unified now.

I've changed - The background, most of the headers, the navigation, some page structure, improved the contact page, improved and heavily modified the wordpress news page, removed unnecessary things etc.

Feel free to be as harsh (or as nice :) ) as you like, I won't take offense at any criticisms of my design.

hi, i'll be as nice as i can, i don't like being nasty because ive been on the other end of nasty replies on this forum and its not nice. Overall its a good start, my favorite part do the site is the section immediately above the footer. Its formatted relatively well and looks nice and clean. ive done a simple paint-over for that section highlighting a few things which will let you know a few things you need to make sure are implemented across your wholes site.

Its just a case of making sure thins line up properly etc

where the titles are i would not try and align them center; align them left and it would probably look much better

i dont mind the navigation bar always being present, infact its quite nice but for me the little bit that sticks down saying simpler design is a distraction and isn't really needed. Finally, the header where the slideshow is...at the moment it doesn't seem to be the one of the wow points of the site...if you think that the slideshow is the first thing you see when you visit the page, it needs to be more bold. Maybe give it a background color...blue might work as it is present elsewhere in the site. Dont make it too bright or dark mind, you want it jusssst right :D

hopefuly ive been helpful in some way :)

the text is partially unreadable?

good start, has some content and tricks, but says "no polish" to me

keep going at least your original.

I would just go bastardzier a temnplate myself, but I am more of a we developer

How is the text unreadable?

I'm not really too sure on the homepage. There is no content and the images are not very eye catching. On the plus I would say your technology page has a much better feel, and I would use that as a starting point for a homepage.

I won't go into design and the rest since everybody already told most of the things i would say about readability and such. The idea for logo in the middle isn't bad but I thought it's something interactive on the page and needed time to figure it's a logo

The only thing I'll contribute m criticism is the position of the scroller on the technology page (didn't check the rest of those). Here's how it looks on 1920 x 1080:

I updated the site with a much more 'readable' typeface, since that seemed to be one of the main criticisms people have made.

I do think it looks a lot better, so thanks for that! :)

Yep, much better readability, now fix the scroller width :)

That's a deliberate design decision. :D

Since that slider has a parallax type of effect I wanted the different elements to move as the browser window is resized.

Now I'm trying to think of ways to make the design look more interesting, without adding unnecessary fluff or complicating it too much.

Whys it so big? I would say drop everything down a size or two. Right now its just yelling at me and the fixed logo is really just getting in the way for me, it makes reading the content hard.

I may just do that. :)

By the way, when I resize my browser on your business site the background of your main elements disappears and is covered by the body's background.

You may need to apply min-width to some stuff fix this.

:)
