July 11, 20242 yr Now that the dust is beginning to settle around Adobe's recent Terms of Use drama - what are your thoughts? Are you going to keep on with Adobe products because you are locked in? Will you be trying alternatives from providers like Affinity? Do you trust Adobe or other big tech companies to keep their word? I'll go first. As a regular Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Lightroom and Photoshop user I've grown comfortable with these programs over the years. I've not been thrilled about Adobe since their move to a subscription model; but I've swallowed the disappointment due to getting access to Creative Cloud at a discounted rate through work. I'm planning on swapping Premiere Pro with DaVinci Resolve, Illustrator with Designer 2 and Lightroom/Photoshop with Photo 2 from now until the end of the year. I am aware that there are features I'll be giving up in the short term as the alternatives catch up - but I'm excited to see if it the change ends up being worth it!
July 11, 20242 yr I hate subscription models and have just checked out on this offer as I was on version 1 previously https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/store/upgrade-offer/ Edit: why can't I add hyperlinks on posts!? Edited July 11, 20242 yr by NOCK
July 11, 20242 yr Luckily I never have to use Adobe products. If I need any graphic work doing to get my man in Pakistan to do it for me.
July 11, 20242 yr I tried Photoshop way back in the day (1990's/early 2000's) but much preferred Photoimpact because it was far more flexible for creating web design assets, and it had amazing image optimisation features which were vital when dialup ruled the roost. Nowadays I tend to use Affinity software as I switched to Mac, it does what I need, plus (until recently) Serif was a British owned company which was a bonus. Adobe nowadays are just a money grabbing business to feed shareholders, they will stop at nothing to extract more money from their customers.
